Ive been hanging around tolle and a neighboring system all day (as there are actually peopel there makign an effort to defend the ice mienrs agaisnt goon attacks) and have seen some effective defense techniques among the mackinaw groups.

Remote Reps
A fleet consisting of 2-3 mackinaws, an orca, and a dominix sporting remote shield transfers seemed to be pretty effective against the brutix/thorax/hurricane attacks.

Gettign concord's attention
Noticed people attacking mackinaws in newbie ships in an effort tog et concord in the area, and they respond more readily whent hey are already int he area.

Anti-Griefers
There were several peopel aroudn tolle willing to gaurd the ice fields in cruisers, logistics, and ECM boats to speed up goon death/slow down goon kills.

Don't be overly intimidated
Sure its a large risk to your exhumer or barge with this going on, but remember, its easy to manipulate someones outlook on a situation if they have gone about it all wrong, or have not taken the risk yet. Some common psy tactics used but arent entirely true.

You will be told superior numbers will be ready to strike at all times, in all target locations.
While they are able to strike in large number and effectively overwhelming any defense, they deffinately do nto do this constantly, especially not in one area. Simply inspect local for goonswarm, test alliance, or others allied to them and keep an eye on local. Set your directional scanner to a short range (short enought o nto pick up all ships in system, but abel to pick up ships on scan in time to possibly align and save a majority fo your fleet. In the several hours i was online i onyl saw them attack no mreo than two at a time, and the mackinaws that flew in groups and had defenses in palce suffered no losses
THo keep in mind, a defended group can stillc ertainly be lost

You will be told losses are no issue.
Whiel this is true with goonswarm, logistics and money to get ships in place to do this take tiem and effort, and the attacks will not come at you liek a gatling gun (if they do, then it wont be in a large group all at once, and a good defence shoudl hold well). Theyw ill keep comming, but 0.0 wars, upkeep is costly as well. Even if you have a few trillion isk, this endeavour will drain it quickly if large groups were deployed one after the other.

Psycological warfare
Goons use it. They will say alot of things to either get a rise out of you or manipulate you to do or not do things according to thier (to quote Sir Lancelot of Monty Python) Idiom. Its very effective and one of the most common tactics used :) (there will likely be some ont he forums as well)

Im sure alot of you mienrs already knew msot or all of this, but i ran across some who didnt (i didnt think about gettign concords attention before i heard it today)

And to Goons: Coordinating something like this adds soem new fire to high sec, good on ya :) Wish ya many kills.

Fly safe and enjoy that ice :)

Best defensive tactic: don't fly mining ops until all this nonsense blows over. Let them have all the ice. Screw the market, do something else for a while.

Same thing if they decide to target mission-runners or wormhole residents. Do something else, don't satisfy the bullies' desire for conflict. Otherwise you're just feeding the beast.

So, how would you rate the income of the organized miners today compared to last week?

Grab a neutral alt to avoid wardecs.

Grab a Battleship, put nanos and MWD.

Bump Dominixes or more simply exhumers out of repping/mining range. Or even Orcas.

Gather tears in local.

Simple as that.

It's simply hilarious and so very very Goon that the first Goon response is a scam. Kudos for being true to who you are.
