Any ISK to be made flying a transport ship?

I'm close to being able to train and use transport ships, aka blockade runners. I am not seeing a way to make a lot of ISK using them though, and they are really expensive... is there a way to make ISK with them when flying solo or are they mostly for low sec corps?

There is definitely ISK to be made, however, there isn't going to be anyone to tell you how, because if they did it would cut into their profits. Look at buy and sell orders in the major hubs and compare them between each other. Also compare hub prices to low sec hub prices.

Ah that makes sense, I have noticed that low and null sec often have lower prices... seems so obvious now. Thank you!

double check yourself on that one.
Make sure you know where it is(in dotlan aswell, lowsec island, highsec island etc.)
Make sure you pay attention to what type of an item it is.

For example, lowsec island items will tend to be lower than the near highsec.
Do your own thinking from there :)

I've made money this way, solo or as part of a corp. It requires a willingness to spend money, to really learn what drives specific low and nullsec markets, and competence as a low/nullsec pilot. The last one is the real sticking point, without it you'll lose your ship too often to ever hope of turning a profit, and I don't recommend trying to learn it in a 100mil ship carrying 400mil worth of cargo.

Stocking low and nullsec markets can be both fun and rewarding, but I strongly recommend learning to live in low and nullsec first.

Heres you a hint. I got started a few years ago buy moving supplies from a hub or local producer and building up lowsec jump points. And to make more profit set up decent but low buy orders on stuff in lowsec and move it to high sec. People are moving supplies back and forth from lowsec to 0.0 all the time. Sometimes they will buy and sell to you in lowsec for lower profit margins because it saves them a lot of time. Basically all you have to do is cater to their needs and supply the most bang for their isk. Example: bring them fuel down for poses and capital ships and buy their minerals or moon goo and ship it back to high sec. Your doing dangerous work that they would otherwise have to do. Good luck.

Believe it or not there are quite frequently courier contracts set up by people that actually understand how transport ships work. They're often to low sec or NPC null. They tend to have lower collateral on them and a decent profit per jump pay out.

That being said there are also a lot of these that are traps, set up by people waiting along the shortest route. Experience will teach you which may be a trap and which may not. Good luck though. On the right day you could pay for your ship with a handful of these.

Posted on main because I'm not a coward like the rest of you.

Thats a good choice to start trading with in potentially dangerous areas, also an excellent choice if you plan doing PI in lowsec or even null.
I would suggest you to buy Cloaky Transport not the +2 warp core str. one. Put T2 cargohold extender rigs on that and you will have 10.240m3 of cargo space @ maxed skills. Its enough to haul cruiser sized ship with its fit in cargohold or plenty of modules to your lowsec trading hub or / and your pirate main.
Cloaky transport allign almost as good as frigates ( with maxed skills ) so there is next to none chance that someone will bump you at gate.

On the other hand +2 warp cores have more cargohold space but from my experience this +2 warp core stab bonus is useless as they allign very poorly and you will be bumped back to hell and killed in first lowsec camp you will meet.

Anyways im useing it for long time and never lost my 400mil worth Crane.

Some tips:

-Gain some experience in living in lowsec first. Don't go there with your 400m Crane and 2 Bil worth of cargo inside if you dont have a
clue how to survive there.
Pirates are very clever ppl. Some use cloaky ships to camp gates with and once you think its safe to jump you will find that someone
jumps after you. Also change your hauling route often. If you will fly every time the same route you will die eventually. Pirates usually
have wide intel network so once they will report you you will be tracked all over its teritory.

-Put an alt in nullsec entry system where you think it will be best system to start your little trading company.
-Watch locals, daily traffic.
-Make insta undocks bookmarks on every station you will dock with futher than 1000 km from station - this is very important!
