You are correct that the premise is farcically weak. You'd be hard-pressed to defend the suggestion that one bad argument classifies someone as "an idiot". However, and here is the important distinction, you need to attack the validity of the argument on those grounds, whereas the mere form of a logically fallacious argument invalidates it.

Therein lies the problem with improperly classifying arguments as logically fallacious when they are not, and it often happens to arguments that are in fact valid despite the inclusion of independent insults.

The obvious fallacy is as follows:

If X was stupid, X would make an incorrect argument.
X made an incorrect argument.
Therefore X is stupid.

Now can everyone just collect their Special Olympic medals and go home.

That would be affirming the consequent. Problem is that nobody worded their statements in a way that fits your first premise.

We said "X's argument is wrong, therefore X is stupid"

This translates to the formal logical form in the way I posted earlier:

If P (your argument is wrong), then Q (you are stupid)
P (your argument is wrong)
Thus Q (you are stupid

If you want to go home after your first medal, you'll never be able to beat Special Olympics Michael Phelps.
