Dear CCP;
I demand you make silly, pointless, and useless changes to the way you write your game, even if such changes are hideously impractical, ruinously expensive, and /or impossible.

In fact, the less plausible the possible change, the more I demand you make it.

Fail in this, and I shall waggle my finger at you and ***** impotently.

As a blind person upon reading this i could barely believe my eyes. What was this before me. Such a insult i had to recall in horror. I was unable to even look at the screen for few minutes. After crying the corner for a bit i look up to see my deaf wife standing over me. " I can hear your sobs from the kitchen" she exclaimed " What has offend so much that you fill my ears with your sobbing". I look at the computer screen and said

" I can hardly believe it but this man is typing insults on the internet"

She was taken back.

She looked like she was about to cry. I Quickly sighted her Favorited stuffed animal. and then I realised I was blind and could not see anything.

Big smile On behalf of "seeing" people everywhere, I apologize for silens vesica. The commments were insensitive. No one should have to log on to the internet and read insults.

EVE is 9 years old. It is a mature project that is late in the life cycle, so it is surprising that no accessibility features have been added.

While UI scaling has helped a bit, there are still no options to play EVE in a minimalistic, text oriented, mode. This mode already exists, it is called the thin client and is used by CCP to mass test without wasting computing time on rendering. With some adjustments the thin client could be made compatible with devices such as Braille displays and text to speech systems.

CCP has written EVE in such a way that is is completely incompatible with Braille displays. EVE lacks any sort of color blind mode and has no high contrast mode. Finally, EVE is moving away from text and towards lots of icons which make it even more difficult for visually impaired people to play.

Instead of fixing these problems CCP has been adding additional graphical updates such as the new missile effects, as if they do not consider accessibility to be a priority. This begs a very simple question: CCP, why u no like blind people?

Discuss.

considering legally blind people amke up less than 1% of the gamer market, and even then, i doubt more then a handful have even CONSIDERED trying eve, i can udnerstadn how its low on their priority list trying to add braile to eve over 12 months of developmetn time.

you think incarna was bad? imagine the rage whent heys pend 1-2 years developing an expansion just to unveil its only feature is allowing blind people to play.

Designing a visually challenging game to be accessible by the visually impaired is akin to designing a challenging game for the mentally challenged.

Hmm WoW, guess that has been done after all.

Not only a strawman, but your sarcasm belittles the plight of the blind.

If I were a GM I'd ban you from the forums for insensitivity! Trolling the blind?!?

Wow. If cluelessness were an olympic event, you'd take the Bronze, Silver, and Gold in one sweep.

It's folks like you that force me to think like a Goon.

Or have I just been 'whooshed' by epically subtle sarcasm?

I actually mused on this the other day. What games could I play if I found myself blind?

It's a short list, and Eve ain't on it.

Hmm... minesweeper and anything by EA?

To quote Lfod Shi

The ratting itself is PvE. Getting away with it is PvP.

Of course not. 4Chan does not melt your mind. SA is the fevered imagination of a demented mind. And no one would EVER troll a forum by demanding hideously impractical design changes to a game from a company hard-pressed to keep up with its main revenue stream. Nor would anyone *ever* mock such trolling as mercilessly as it deserves.

Nope. It's all sweetness and bunnies here in the interwebs.
