Splash screen shows up, but EVE never launches

I just did a fresh install of Windows 7 x64 on a SSD. I installed EVE on the data drive since at the moment I don't do much outside of skill train. I open the launcher, it validates/patch checks and says it is good to go. I click play, the splash screen shows up and disappears, but the game itself never launches. I tried running repair but it didn't fix anything. I ran log server and tried to start the client, and it popped an exception, but I figured I'd post it here for better interpretation. Is having eve installed on a different drive than windows causing the issue?

try pressing alt enter to go to windowed mode.

If this works log in and check for terrible fps. It seems like tons of us either have an issue running eve, or an issue with windows 64-bit, or an issue with ATI.

can you post your computer specs? I'm goig to try to get a handle on this since CCP doesn't seem to care

A couple of things you can try

Navigate to \CCP\EVE\bin\DirectX and run Dxsetup.exe just in case.

If that does not work, then if you start the launcher from a shortcut on your desktop, check both the 'Target:' and 'Start in:' both point to the same location. Sometimes the 'Start in:' location gets corrupted.

If it still does not work then navigate to E:\CCP\EVE\bin\ and run EveFile.exe to start eve running without the launcher.

Good luck.

alt+enter does nothing. exefile.exe runs but never opens any kind of window, not even an unfocusable one.

The SSD was a recent purchase. I had W7 and EVE installed with the exact same hardware on the 1TB drive before I bought the SSD and it worked fine. I actually logged in to add a long skill to the queue right before I did a fresh install of W7 on the SSD. That's why I'm wondering if either something is missing, or EVE just doesn't like being ran off a hard drive other than the boot drive. Thought maybe someone else could see something I missed and smack me or something lol. Thanks for the help!

Saw the dx setup earlier and tried it, ran it again to make sure, but no change.

I was using either the start menu shortcut or the launcher exe itself, but checked the desktop shortcut and tried that too, no change there either.

Running ExeFile itself results in getting the load cursor, but nothing happens. ExeFile shows up in task manager both after using the launcher and running it directly, but does nothing after that.

This seems to be a common problem. I havent seen an official acknowledgement of it, but allegedly they're working on it. Honestly there doesn't seem to be a workaround other than re-install and hope.

Well that sucks. I tried to submit a petition, but it bugged out and won't let me lol.

"Oops

Something really bad happened and we are really sorry.

The server was unable to process your request.

Support personel has been notified, no further action is needed."

It seems that the launcher keeps corrupting the install? I ran repair, got this.

launcher\applyPatch.exe, missing 1 out of 1 blocks
launcher\launcher.exe, missing 7 out of 8 blocks
launcher\launcher_console.exe, missing 7 out of 8 blocks
launcher\library.zip, missing 79 out of 322 blocks
launcher\localization.xml, missing 2 out of 2 blocks
(4/7) Calculating patch: 100.0%, 00m00s
launcher\ui\splash.bmp, missing 22 out of 22 blocks

After that finishes, I run repair again, everything is good. Run the launcher, it updates. After launcher updates, I run repair and get the same files missing the same number of blocks. Running exefile anywhere in the process changes nothing.

Same. Whatever the issue is, it is with Eve itself. I hope CCP gets their **** together soon! I'd rather not cancel my sub, but I don't wanna pay for something I can't access either. Finally got a petition in about it but its been 2 days without any answer.

Experiencing the same issue on a laptop which was able to load/start the game a few days ago...
