Comms is probably the most important factor in inter-militia cooperation. The Minmatar have a single TS3 server that all Minmatar corporations are welcome, encouraged, and in-actuality use. The Gallente are the same. It facilitates cross-corp and cross-TZ cooperation extremely effectively. The Amarr and (from the sounds of it) Caldari do not use shared comms, or at least have multiple comms and that is what hurts them. It's super easy to hop from channel to channel, getting everyone in the know and fleeted up, than it is having to get on Mumble, TS3, Vent, Eve Voice, etc etc etc.

I know Amarr used to have a joint Vent long ago.. I dunno about now days.

Caldari has long had a single Mumble server and quite some time ago most used it. It's just since most of Caldari went AFK 5 or 6 months ago for a while we never really went back to using it once people started coming back from being AFK. It's still there but not used as it was in the past.

Confirming Cal Mil has a new TS server, went there to say hi and all the good stuff, they seem like nice guys when not forumwarrioring :)

To answer to the OP, it allowed implementing more standardised fits, having a better awerness of cap capabilities at any given moment, made it easier to pull ppl in fleets and also made it easier to convince some old friends to join us in FW. All in all a big improvement.
