Why are GSCs and PI Command Centers still seeded?

They would be simple enough to manufacture with some seeded BPOs and mineral costs that would make them ultimately cost about as much as their NPC seeded price is now.

I know CCP tends to like having things produced by the players where possible, and only seeds items to help smooth over changes or to introduce new gameplay elements. PI and Secure containers have both been around for awhile, so why not hand the production of them over to the players?

This isn't a complaint (I can't say I hate the convenience of buying NPC seeded items) just a curiosity.

In the cat-and-mouse game that is low sec, there is no shame in learning to be a better mouse.

The reason is that no one in their right minds would make anything as boring as containers in a spaceship game that (potentially) costs real money to play. Even the EVE playerbase has it's limits! :S

If that was the case.. then alot of things in eve which are boring wouldnt be created.. such as cargo expanders? .etc

If there was a demand, there would be a supply. hurp

I would like to see all seeded items eventually replaced also :D power to the people

I propose that PI command centers be produced from PI goods. For maximal evil, of course.

I would guess that the containers are still NPC produced because they are needed at so many different stations. Player trading tends to be centered in only a couple of stations with dribs and drabs of random items everywhere else. If most containers are only at the hub, it becomes impossible to get them to where they need to go without haulers getting involved, which seems overly complex for what amounts to a physical representation of tabs in an inventory control spreadsheet.

I wouldn't say that is 100% true. At the moment, players (myself included) re-sell GSCs in systems that are popular with industrialists but are far from stations that have the containers seeded.

Yes moving GSCs around is a pain, but that is all the more reason for player production. A smart player would identify the system(s) where GSCs are in demand, maybe fly a BPC and manufacture a bunch in a local station and sell them there. That would spread out the supply of GSCs to areas where there is demand without the need for hauling until the buyer takes their purchase out of the station.

The same logic would apply to the bulky command centers as well.

I agree, the fewer seeded things the better.
