2 big ships in a hole...

I live in a c2 with a static c4 and a static highsec. There is another tower in here that belongs to some pretty non active players. Or so it would seem for the past few months. Last night when i logged on I noticed there had been 20 + jumps in the last our in/out of our wh. Looks like I'm not running any sites tonight. So i jump in a buzzard and fly around to find no one at their pos or the around the exits. I do this for a while and i see a cov-ops pop up on d-scan for a second and then is gone. A minute later he is back and then gone again. Looks like i missed a lot of something going on so I log off.

Now this morning when I log on to check things out quickly before I head to work I notice a Thanatos and a Rorqual on scan. WTF is this? Carriers get built in wh all the time I know but a Rorqual? Is this common? Obviously the other corp in here has been busy or just hasn't brought out these ships in a while. I had no time to check things out further so I can't wait to get back in the game and see what's going on.

Until then I have a couple decisions to make. My corp is small ( and getting smaller) and I am left to keep our pos up and running all by myself. Our CEO has let his accounts expire with no time frame for coming back. Keeping a death star alive is a lot of work for 1 guy who doesn't play often enough anyways. Should I get my stuff out and leave the pos to fend for itself? Or take everything I can ( there's not a lot really- 500 mil in ships maybe) and screw everyone? I've been told by some friends in game to take down the pos and find somewhere else to live. Since the biggest hauling ship I can fly is a Badger this isn't going to happen anytime soon.

I always expect to be attacked even when its quiet in our wh. So while I write this I think i have decided what to do. I will take everything I own out except a few sb's and a Drake (to at least do the c2 sites) and do my usual until we are attacked. Then I hope to have some fun when we are attacked and **** some of them off a bit.

I can't afford to hire any help or mercs so I am going it alone. Any tips or advice on what else i can do is greatly appreciated. I am looking forward to going down in flames. Living in a wh makes you paranoid so I welcome the excitement for a change. Sorry for the long post

Living in a WH with highsec static, knowing if its open or not is of great importance.
As you dont live there alone, you will never know.

I would contact the corp owning the other pos.

Pull out everything asap, and start a new corp yourself with what few active mates you've had.
Then find a new hole that does not have a static highsec and set up shop again.

If I were in your position, I would try to evacuate as many assets out of that hole as you possibly can. If you are the only one keeping that boat floating and your CEO is MIA, then that's the only reasonable thing to do. If you don't want to "screw over" your friends, then split the assets amongst any remaining active corp members.

That being said, you might also try negotiating for peace with your neighbors. Of course, this could quickly backfire, as they may accept negotiations just so they can get a chance to blow you up.

Take everything you can, leave nothing behind.

If you are scared of bad rep, then share with any active chill dude, but screw any people you dislike.

Have you considered joining the second corp? Or even forming an alliance between the two of you, if you're afraid of getting cheated?

Thanks for all responses. We have tried contacting them but got no answer. But that was a while ago so maybe I'll try again. We definitely want allies not enemies.

I had a brief chat with our CEO ( he's a friend of mine in RL) and he still won't commit to coming back anytime soon so he told me to basically do whatever i want because i paid for it too. OK then. I will prepare for the worst and remove everything of significant value (again there isn't much) and train up pos gunnery and hope I get it to level 4 before we are attacked. If we don't get attacked then that just gives me more time to recruit members or GTFO.

I just hate paying for pos fuel all by myself and recruiting members is a pain in the ass. Starting a new corp would be a solo effort I think. The one other guy (who's online from time to time) and his alts would probably come with me but I feel the same thing would happen over again.

Another question I have is about the Rorqual; is it that useful in a c2 to build one there?

The only real use for a Rorqual in WH space is if you mine. Wormhole space has the ABC ores, and C3 on up has Mercoxit. Those are big: 16 m3 per unit for ABCs and 40 m3 per for Mercoxit, so doing anything with it is a pain. It can be refined in the hole with a refinery array, but you lose at least 25% doing that even with perfect skills. It can be hauled out to refine in K-space but the sheer volume makes it require a lot of round trips. So, the really serious miners use a Rorqual to compress the ore, haul the compressed ore out to K-space in just a couple of trips, and refine it there.

PVP is a question with no single right answer, but a lot of wrong ones.

My opinion:
Do watcha want 'cause a pirate is free; you COULD BE a pirate.

Expanded:
My advice is to lurk around their base for a few days, see if the rorq or thanny is left undocked at any point, and keep a general eye on things WHILE you evacuate your assets. If you see any bastards flying around the enemy POS, pop them and pod them. This'll lock them out of the wormhole indefinitely if you kill them, meaning that you can just wait for their POS shields to drop and take whatever's inside. Once you've got all your assets out, sell them, take the cash, buy yourself some rum and sing piratical songs until their shields drop. Grab the rorqual, let the enemy in and self-destruct their caps in front of them.

Just some practical advice from the world's lamest wormhole pirate.

Personally if I was in your position I would take as much stuff out while the fuel lasts then join another more active wormhole corporation. My corp is currently recruiting and I know several other corps that are always on the lookout for pilots with w-space experience. Feel free to convo me or mail me in game.

Remove your assets sell and split what you don't need with the corpies that are cool.

Join a corp or set one up that suits your needs and start again. Treat it like an opportunity to do things new and fresh with a chance to meet a new bunch of people. It's eve of course, there is a high chance you or they will **** each other over but have a laugh doing it and nothing can go wrong.

you should take everything you can out of the wh ASAP and dock it up in highsec somewhere..
IMO you were screwed by your corp by doing a lot of work alone so you deserve it.

IMO, a C2 static Hsec/C4 is one of the most sought after WHs in EVE. In addition, the corp with the carrier may have enemies that would be willing to pay for the entrance to their WH. Take some time looking on Battle Clinic to try and find any corps that fight with your neighbors on a regular basis. You may be able to get payed by some corp looking to bring them some hurt for the intel, and then once they are gone you can sell the WH for a few billion isk to another WH corp.

Or you might just find one corp willing to evict the current locals on their own, but you will not be able to get them to pay very much for the hole if this is the case. If you want a list of WH corps that are actively looking for this type of WH and are willing to smash a POS to get it, send me an EVE mail in game. I can get you in touch with any of the WH Alliances in the Worm Hole Coalition.

Never miss a chance for profit!

OK I've been keeping an eye on the other POS while removing a few ships and things and it's gone quiet again. There is no capital ship maintenance array or capital assembly array so I don't think they we're built there recently. The Thanatos and Rorqual must be logged off in a safe spot.

I have some work to do to get more prepared and people to contact but in the mean time if our POS gets attacked now I won't care too much. Might be nice to see the fireworks. I'm trying to be friendly with these guys but they just don't respond. They are not being aggressive in any way but that doesn't mean anything really. Maybe I'm just being paranoid. Would be nice to work with these guys in there; but we'll see i guess.

Thanks again for all the advice. What ever happens I am looking forward to it.

So the Thanatos and Rorqual could be in the ship maintenance array? I might want to hire someone to help me with this....

I have taken out all my stuff and might take some other's as well. If anyone is interested I will abandon it with my pos inside, it might be worth it for someone else to take over as I don't have the manpower to do it. But for now I will keep doing my thing.

I suggest you remove them from the wh and get a few capital km's while your at it, if you cant manage this with corp/friends you know check out Narwhals Ate My Duck, they are a merc alliance and deal with stuff like this, they'll be removed from your system in 48hrs flat.
Contact Chitsa Jason or join "bitin" channel ingame to talk to them

Thank you for the advice. I have contacted them but sadly I cannot afford it. It also seems like the other guys are slowly taking down their pos. I swear there were more mods and a second ship array not too long ago so I might wait it out a bit longer. We are still actively recruiting if anyone is interested. The few people I have contacted about this have been very helpful but I still need to grow my corp or GTFO; sooner or later somethings gonna give.
