For years I've felt space is too 'bright'. When I do missions, I actually turn my camera to the darkest area and target purely via overview. I'd love to actually watch the battle once in a while.

You don't even need to get rid of the clouds, just turn them down a notch or 2.

This. The glare is uncomfortable.

-1 .. they make bland space look cool. Imagine it's the outgassing of atmosphere from breached structures. They work fine and don't slow down even my 3 year old gfx card.

Getting tired of turning away from the fight just so I can read the overview and see who's in it.

Incidentally, we must be in a very dense portion of the galaxy for nearly every solar system to have such clouds.

They dont look that good, and they lag the crap out of even the modern cards. I have solid 60fps in all occasions, when I stumble on a cloud...its barely 40 and GPU fan screams like crazy from the spinning. Turn screen away, back to 60fps and the fan goes back to silent mode.
So option on/off for clouds, or even nebulas(or at least nebula brightness) should be implemented.

I don't have a problem with them, performance wise. I just find them highly annoying and would rather they weren't there.

Supported!

I even bugreported over-bright cloud on WC Warzone once, because it caused huge performance impact and GPU overheating (something ~75-80C degrees which only happens with my card in benchmarks like FurMark). But I got respond "this is not an issue, but merely feature request".

My eyes are bleeding when I'm trying to look at overbright violet cloud in WC - THAT IS ISSUE. I had to turn my camera in opposite direction just to keep my GPU temp in normal range, and I need to use overview to target and kill NPC's.

CCP, please delete clouds entirely until you properly fix them, just like you did with old toxic cloud environment effect.

My Threadnought is apparently forming here... thanks for the popular support, perhaps next CSM I will put in a bid.

Glad I could help the people that thought it was "Just them" to know it's not... I would say that the -1s, you can always turn on this much needed feature for your enjoyment, but the opposite is not true if it's not an on/off option - so consider that optional is always best.

My FPS isn't that bad in one, about a 50% drop from say 60-20/30ish, on medium, I don't use Bloom/HD/etc... I turn off most of the stuff for that steady performance FPS, as am all about performance over looks if I am in PvP, and PvE is about the same, I do enjoy the eye-candy, but given one or the other, I take the performance... I like ships not lag-wrecks...

The real issue I have IS that they do hit the FPS, they do look pretty crappy, and they do not add anything... and then the Mission Gas Miner Clounds are VERY Bright lately, and do hit you hard in the FPS - but over all, I see no point for smoke/clouds in space... in real space this just doesn't happen that way, it's all Hollywood, and imho detracts from the game's look, I would rather we have a darker (but with color) space, that is full of that invisible gas clounds like real space... put in a cloud if you need to CCP, but relax it a bit, I want my lasers to look right, my ship to look right, and the other effects to look right, and in a cloud, well they definitly do not... it really hoses up the works.

someone want to post a laser firing through a cloud, or how other effects look in one... for the not understanding people that think... "Just turn down your settings" oxygen-stealers... that might help them with the point in case.

+1 to OP

the fog's silly, no aesthetical gain whatsoever, unrealistic (ok maybe not, i don't know, never flown a spaceship in RL before), not adding to the sense of depth in space (srlsy, it's a fog) and it degrades the FPS so much it's not even funny.
