Ratting in low-sec

I'm trying to improve my sec-status by ratting in low-sec.

I'm neither getting any increases in my sec status (when I look at the sec status tab to see % gains/losses) nor am I being awarded the bounty from killing these guys.

Looting didn't help.

I'm at a loss, any feedback would be appreciated. Thanks!

Make sure your not popping fw npcs.

The rats should be pirates not navy ships.

Sec status and bounty gain is delayed and happens in chunks.

If you take all the sand out of the box, only the cat poo will remain.

Thank you guys very much for your input so far.

The bounties being delivered lumped sum worked, thank you for that clarification. Still not getting sec status modifiers, keeping an eye on it in 15 minute intervals, as I understand that's how it works, IDK :S. I'm killing Guristas Pirates BTW.

Noticed there are some social skills that help with that. Are they required and not just a boost?

The social skills are not required.

They are not required. The sec status changes for ratting in low sec are INCREDIBLY slow building. Best bet would be to make a note of your Sec Status and then rat for a few hours, then check Sec Status.

Security status is only increased by the value of the single highest-value NPC pirate you kill within a particular system in a 15(?)-minute period. To increase your sec status the fastest, bounce between several systems after you kill a high-value (e.g. battleship) rat.

Correct, what you want to do is kill a BS, switch system, kill a BS, switch system etc etc. Don't come back into the first system till 20 minutes have passed since you killed the BS there.

This ^.

Only the single highest rat you kill counts for you sec status.

So make a loop that takes about 20 minutes to complete

Go to system A => kill BS rat => go system B => kill BS rat => .... => Go system X => kill BS rat => Go system A => repeat cycle.

It's working now. Thank you everyone for the help! Smile And hoping between systems is definitely making this a less painful process, thanks for the protip.

Fast Talk is the specific social skill your looking for. Yes change system everytime you kill a rat, so be in something agile.

Had to do what your doing now before I joined my present corp.

Noir. and Noir Academy are recruiting apply at www.noirmercs.com I Noir Academy: 60 days old must be able to fly at least one tech II frigate. I Noir. Recruits: 4:1 k/d ratio and can fly tech II cruisers.

This.

Also, go to NPC null to do this, much safer than lowsec and bigger bounty rewards/faction rewards. Well, it's safer if you only kill the BSes and leave the rest of the rats for the chain, if you start messing up people's carefully farmed belt chains they're going to come find you and remove your bollocks through your throat with a melon-baller.

Chaining doesn`t work anymore. All Beltspawns are random.

I don't think anyone has mentioned chaining yet. This used to work, but I don't really belt rat much anymore so I;m not entirely sure. Its is definitely worth a try though.

The mechanics (at one point, and I hope they still work this way) are such that if you kill the big ships and leave the little ones, that bigger ones will spawn on them.

So if there are frigs and cruisers, you kill the cruisers and leave the figs. The next spawn should be the same size or bigger, and eventually you could groom certain systems to have nice BS rats most of the time.

Like I said, this may or may not work anymore but it is definitely worth the try.

ALSO

Try NPC nullsec, just be careful and keep an eye on local. For a group of pilots, nullsec is safer. for a lone pilot in a ratting ship, nullsec can be very dangerous. I spent a month in Venal by myself in a drake ratting. I was unaware at the time that SOV alliances still have a 'presence' in NPC nullsec. I didn't learn that until I joined one.

I just noticed you are a brand new toon. If you don't have a negative sec status, just run missions in HS to get a better sec status.

Maybe elaborate a bit? They've always been random, chaining has to do with the refreshing of partially destroyed groups on which the dice have already been rolled.

Does the entire set of belt rats warp out and get replaced with another set now or something?
