New Mining Ops - Seeking Advice & Feedback

Good day!

I've somewhat recently returned to Eve after a few months of leave and I want to start again in a different approach than before. I plan to set up a mining ops and have activated a second account in order to possibly establish a 2-man mining corp. I have the ISK to buy bigger, better ships but being Hulkageddon is under way I will start with something smaller - at the moment I have an Industrial and a cruiser for starting out, and once I found a nice system to ops in I'll make the corp Smile

So, as the title says, seeking advice and feedbacks:-

How best should I proceed with the ops? Mine with the cruiser, jetcan the ore and have the Industrial come and collect it? Or have the Industrial in close stand by, picking up every jettisoned can and going back to station once full? My plan is to put miners, salvager and drones on the cruiser and tractor beam on the Industrial to deal with the rats and jetcans. Cruiser kill rats, Industrial tractors 'em in and loot, cruiser salvages.

Oh, and for now I'm not seeking max yield set ups, just drumming up some ISK capital while training the main for an Orca and the alt for a Hulk/Covetor.

Thank you for your time.

Use a mining ship and an industrial (The Humble Bestower: Largest Low-Skill Industrial, it takes less than half a day for any race to train, and is worth training even if you choose to train for a different Industrial race later.)

1. Jettison some ore to create a jetcan.
2. Create a bookmark.
3. Click and hold while dragging the bookmark to your cargohold.
4. Put the bookmark into the jetcan.
5. Have the alt remove the ore and LEAVE THE BOOKMARK.
6. Use the jetcan to transfer ore to your hauling alt (waiting at the jetcan).

The jetcan will stay for 2 hours. You may want rename it with EVE time when it was created it.

Never Jet Can when alone.

Only mine with that Cruiser and fit a dessi for Salvaging until you can get into a Noctis.

Use MLU's. The little tank you gain by using something else will not save you. May as well have more money in the long run to replace a ship if need be.

It's not exactly a Mining Ops if there's only one ship out mining and one ship hauling, but that's a minor detail.

With a low-SP character, your best bet would be mining in a dedicated Mining Cruiser. Fit all your high-slots with Miner I's, as many lows as possible with MLUs and go join an Industry-corp, who're willing to help you haul the ore back to a station for refining.

@Tau Cabalander

Thanks for the advice. I wanted to use the Industrial I got from the tutorial for hauling but you've convinced me to switch to the Bestower. Am training it now Smile

@Krixtal Icefluxor

Nope, never gonna jetcan alone - just ejecting the ore and have the Industrial close by to immediately pick it up. And yes, will definitely fit MLUs, I appreciate the recommendation Big smile

@Cap James Tkirk

I've spend some time and a wee bit of effort (not much I know) in the recruitment channel in-game, but either they want me already in a mining barge/Hulk or at a certain level of SP, or their corp goals does not match my personal goal. So it's back to setting up my own corp/ops.

@Anshio Tamark

Agree on the "not-exactly-a-mining-ops" thing, but it's close enough Big smile. And you are correct - I did some reading on a few sites before embarking on this path and I've gotten an Osprey for the job. With 3 Miner I fitted Cool

As for the corp thing, I think I've explained it to Cap James Tkirk above on my reasoning.

Again, thank you for your time and I appreciate all your advice and feedbacks!
