How can I tell if petitions are broken on my client?

I want to be clear that this is a serious question and not me crying about petition response not being instant.

I filed a petition 12 days ago. The petition system says last update was 9 days ago but there are no messages. I opened a second petition 7 days ago, it says it was updated yesterday and it also has no messages. Neither of the problems I petitioned are solved though I'm fairly certain that they are quick fixes. Have I misinterpreted the last update column? Have I received responses that I can not view? Or is the petition system working fine and am I actually asking for something impossible?

Additional Detail:

I lost an insignificant ship and enough sec status to kick me out of 0.8-1.0 systems while shooting a GCC ship. An employee of CCP admits it was a bug in this thread https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&m=1202925 . It's kinda putting the brakes on my care bearing vacation so I hope it's not a petition bug Lol.

Recruitment Officer: What type of a pilot are you? Me: I've been described as a Ray Charles with Parkinsons and a drinking problem.

If I hit Esc and check my petitions while on the character selection screen I have no petitions despite having 2 open when I check after logging in to my character, can anybody tell me if that is normal?
