I'm in the market for a new laptop and I'd want one that can run EVE. Graphics quality is not an issue, I just want to play the game on the laptop.

What price range are EVE-capable laptops usually in? I know the system specs of EVE but I'm a little lost when matching up possible laptops to the specs.

price do not mean that you will get a good laptop(yes it help but a more expensive laptop doesnt mean it will be better than a cheaper one).

I run it fine on a 2 years old core 2 duo 2.4ghz cpu with a Nvidia 320m video card, with moderate graphics. I've seen some people running it on single core with minimal graphics, so I think if you dont care about graphics any laptop on the market will be just fine.

I run fine on a year old PB Easynote TS. Cost me at the time 500 euro's, which is low-mid range for a laptop here. Specs are: AMD Dual-Core processor at 1.9g base, but overcharges to 2.5 when needed. It has on-board grafics coming from an HD6480 chip with 512MB memory. The internal memory installed is 6GB DDR3.

So really, most of the new basic laptops should be able to run EVE fine, even with decent graphics. However, I would personnaly like to recomend either an Acer or a Packard Bell. i've owned several laptops of these brands (same factory basiccaly), and have always been verry satisfied with their products. My previous laptop was an Acer, which lasted me for 7 years, and is still my back up and lender machine. Hope this helps.

Having played on one for the first two years of my eve life I can suggest this.

Do not buy an apple laptop for this. Apples have notorious frame rate issues and on top of that if you boot to windows you kill the frame rate issues at the expense of massive heat issues, imagine your cores sitting at 99 degrees C. Yeah...

Check Tiger Direct, and new egg.

Look at eves minimum system requirements and find a lap top that meets those specs, you should be able to find one with in the 300 - 500$ US range.

Hope this helps.

Dont buy an alienware or an XPS your paying extra for flare and a name brand.

I dont agree with this.

My core 2 duo laptop is in fact a 2010 Macbook Pro (13"). EVE sucks hard on OSX but on Windows I almost never run over 70'C(sometimes at 75). I also have a friend who play on a newer i5(quad core) and it barely heat over 55.

So I think you are over-exagerating the heat issues on Apple laptops.

But yes, Apple laptops are not the best to play games for the price.

I have this one:

http://www.officedepot.com/a/products/303799/Lenovo-G570-PENTM-4334-9GU-Laptop/

it runs fine on it, when I do play on it. I usually play on my Touchsmart; but for travel the Lenovo is great.

There's nothing about Apple hardware that would break EVE on Windows. EVE will only run like **** if you try to use the OSX client or if your computer is underpowered to begin with.

I picked up a Dell N5010 from their outlet site.

Not the cheapest in the world (£372 inc vat), but not a bad spec.
Core i5 mobile, ATI HD5650, 4gb ram, 320GB drive.

1 year warranty (due to it being from their outlet)

Would get a windows score of 6.7, except from the ram (5.9) and the hard drive (5.4)

Runs eve with no trouble at all.

Woo! CSM XI!

I have a MacBook Pro 15" from late 2009 and EVE runs fine... Never had an issue with it, always have run the OSX client...
I've never actually played EVE on a Windows box so I don't know what I'm missing out on :)

But its definitely not a cost effective option unless you have a photography business that can pay for the laptop :)

I wonder if I can shoehorn it onto my little MacBook Air :)
