I liked intergalactic planetary when it came on the radio. Every other song I can think of from them was on their first rap album though, so... yeah... I'm way behind on music.

Another one down for cancer while nobody wonders why cancer is more prevalent now than ever before, like it's just bad luck or an accident.

More ribbon-wearing and "walks" and other adult-sized child activities will ensue and nobody will ask "what's in the food, vaccines, and environment now that was not in it back when cancer was rare?".

Nothing to see here, sheeple, just mourn the loss and move on.

all in all, people are dying less of diseases that were incurable a few years ago, or are less exposed to said diseases, but that also means that instead of dying to said disease, the chances of getting cancer go up.

basically, if we don't die of disease X, you'll die of cancer.

That is a knee-jerk response and does not hold up to scrutiny for an instant.

There are much better arguments like misattributed deaths. 'Organ Failure', 'Old Age', etc. that were undiagnosed cancers. But even those fall easily to the simple statistics that rates of cancers are rising. Something we are doing is causing us to get cancer earlier and more often. That's as clear as day to anyone without their own wool over their eyes.

I pretty much grew up listening to the Beastie Boys. It's sad to see one go so soon.

Top 10 Chemicals Suspected of Causing Autism, LD (according to U.C.-Davis, Univ. of Wisconsin-Madison, National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences, Children's Environmental Health Center (CEHC) at Mount Sinai School of Medicine)

CEHC developed the list of 10 chemicals found in consumer products that are suspected to contribute to autism and learning disabilities to guide a research strategy to discover potentially preventable environmental causes. The top 10 chemicals are as follows:

-lead

-methylmercury - Found in wild harvested fish (mackerel, sardines, salmon, tuna, etc.) and any other animals that feed on fish. Produced as smoke from incinerators and burning fossil fuels. Enter water via rain, and concentrates in the bodies of algae and microorganisms that fish feed on. Here's a diagram: http://www.csa.com/discoveryguides/mercury/review3.php#v1

-PCBs - Short for polychlorinated biphenyl. Any of a family of very stable industrial compounds used as lubricants, heat-transfer fluids, and plasticizers. The manufacture and use of PCBs has been restricted since the 1970s because they are very harmful to the environment, being especially deadly to fish and invertebrates, and stay in the food chain for many years. Noted primarily as an environmental pollutant that accumulates in animal tissue with resultant pathogenic and teratogenic effects.

-organophosphate pesticides

-organochlorine pesticides

-endocrine disruptors - drugs, pesticides, compounds used in the plastics industry and in consumer products, industrial by--products and pollutants, and even some naturally produced botanical chemicals

-automotive exhaust

-polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons - Produced as byproducts of fuel burning (whether fossil fuel or biomass).
brominated flame retardants

-perfluorinated compounds - used to make Teflon and Scotchgard products
