Bump. As ussual, I loved the cast and will prob never get enough of them. Besides being informative I also find the chemistry between the both of you fun to listen too.

I am glad you guys talked about the ISK. It is a relevant topic, especially for the newer players.

Learning solo PvP, one explosion at a time.

Just listened again to episode 4, really amazing guys - I know you'll just hate me saying this but your discussion on how to keep your spirits up when starting out was simply profound - so I'll just say it was supersmart, and thank you!

Great podcast. I listen every week. If you do end up interviewing CCP Ytterbium next week, please ask him what, if anything, is going to be done about Black Ops BS.

Awesome podcast. I like the youtube commentary fights while waiting for the next episode. Keep it up. Lots of good insight on PVP tactics. I just caught up on the podcasts. It helps make the workday not suck as bad.

I have avoided to dive into pvp for all my lifetime in eve and every time i got "ganked" i died horribly through inexperience or fear and confusion.
After finding your podcast here and the inspiration i got from you guys i went onto the test server and learned to avoid going into rage-beserk mode every time i lost something.
I am following the forums since maybe two weeks from my character creation and learned some good advice very early and after some years "carebearing" i accumulated so much fear about lowsec and nullsec that i totally avoided both no matter what.

Your videos and your podcast then made the "shift" in my expectations and helped me a lot in learning how to have fun loosing ships (yes loosing and carebear in the same sentence!) Big smile

So after listening to all your episodes at least twice and with some copying and tweaking eft fits i went out in a moa and like Kil2 said, it IS a complete different experience to just set a random course into nullsec and being able to initiate a fight there without loosing your reputation (hahaha) is much better then "waiting on the opponent shoots you first".

But no talking without an actual fight to report,
so I got some Moa's and I fitted one with an resist-buffer tank but i am very cheap here when i do my frist attempts, so i just took regular antimatter M with me and no paste or faction ammo (yet).
I made a few jumps into nullsec and some of the system were actually empty - quite the opposite of what my fear and paranoia was telling me.
So the first ship on the scanner was a Sabre and the pilot of the Sabre thought i was a bait ship and went after me anyway (i talked to him afterwards) and I was burning away a little to force him away from the gate and then he died because of blaster fire.
A few jumps later (all to my stunning surprise i wasnt dead or being ganked yet) i found this three or four man gang on a gate (had them on the d-scan) and decided against any odds just to go for it anyway, no matter if i loose or not.

The gang was a Zealot at a gate at 0k, a vengeance and a succubus (which i was afraid of the most..) and i jump to the gate at 70k to see if they were interested or not (sorry for quoting Kovorix here without asking permission first) and as I "thought" the vengeance and the succubus burn towards me and i was "burning" away from the gate (being the scared carebear not knowing what to do Twisted) and i think the succubus was there first with a scram and neuts i guess and i killed him then almost the vengeance (what the...??) but didnt really pay too much attention to the Zealot "sniping" me (i was moving around at 83km from the gate the Zealot was sniping me) as i should and so short after the vengeance' demise my Moa follows its fate.

I took the "zen-way" from Kil2 when going through that experience and were succesful in my first intentional pvp roam by count (of kills).

Thank you Kil2 for opening my mind for this "zen" approach while slowly learning to pvp (in cheap ships) and even taking a risk while doing it for the fun it actually was to go out there and do it.

I was really hesitant at first because after following the "warefare and tactics" threads for so many years the general tone there i was listening was "do not pvp in any Caldari boat unless its a Drake, Tengu, Falcon". Only matar wins and so on.
So it goes without saying that going out there and being in a cheap tech1 cruiser hull and killing ships on your first try is an experience unmatched.

Thank you for this amazing first experience and very helpful and inspirational podcast!

Wow elitatwo what an awesome roam.
So you killed a 90mil Sabre (looked up the killmails) and a 80mil Succubus, and you did it with T1 ammo!
That's quite a success story hehe :-)
I'd recommend always using faction ammo its not too expensive.
Thanks for sharing, was fun to read!
Good luck in the next roams! Keep up the good spirit.

Thank you!
Well tbh since i am still at my first baby-steps here, I thought I leave it at tech1 ammo which is cheap and i can make it myself.

This morning wasnt as lucky as i hoped and i got ganked my a 10-man gang with tech3 ships and two or three hurricanes and i messed up my desicion to burn back to the gate to empire space, but they all told me that my Moa had a nice tank and they wanted for me to fit a new one and come back to them Smile.

elitatwo - Thanks for my favorite post from a fan I've seen since starting this thing. Your experience is exactly what I would hope to inspire. So awesome.

Evet Morrel - Really happy to hear that was useful. Its one of my favorite topics and I hope we get to revisit it in some way later.

VR Highfive - Great to hear, our tempo/chemistry/presentation is the biggest challenge I think, so its fantastic if someone is actually enjoying it =)

Thecla Elarik - Good idea to try and get some footage of that duo, I'll see what I can do.

Aducat Ragnarson - Awesome job, I love hearing success stories like this so much.

Thanks everyone so much, look for new episode this weekend with CCP Yitterbalance (I dont know how to spell it exactly)

Absolutely!

Just today I made a terrible mistake aand because I listened to each episode and watched all your videos I even know what I did wrong.
I took another of my Moa's out for a spin to the same location where I was just two days ago (error number one...) and as soon as I entered the first lowsec system on the way into deep nullsec in the south I see 4 ships sitting at the gate and 6 more on grid and three of them joining the four (3x nano-cane, 2x proteus, 1x tengu, 1x Curse) at the gate and they were really focussed as I saw.
What they did was something I havent yet seen before in a gang and I found it absolutly stunning what they did which lets to my second and fatal mistake in watching the 2 Proteus' only 12km away from me (I was still cloaked from the gate) and not paying attention to my bad situation.
Well the seven ships split themselves in a "ring" formation around the gate and trying to cover as much ground at the 15km range-ring around the gate and trying to decloak or find me before my cloak runs out.

One of the hurricanes came really close and I paniced, let the hurrican pass me (8km from my position) and I figured that I would run out of the cloak any second now, so I was feeling a little too confident and wanted to make a run to the next gate and here is my next mistake-
I should have burned back to the gate which the gang couldnt have me followed since they were all outlaws.

So, my Moa dies by my mistake and to my surprise the gang members were so baffled about my fitting that they said they were impressed about the tank and that I should fit a new one and come back, which I didnt but I have to say that I was surprised that they didnt mock me, because I went there in my tiny cruiser and they were camping there with those super-expensive tech3 ships and battlecruisers (The second time around).
Maybe it has something to do with the current economy and the price of the lower end ships?

However, I will most certainly fly bigger ships in pvp (someday), but I wanted to start slow and maybe even cheap because I already know that I would get super frustrated if I went out there without some experience and loosing a very expensive ship that I had to put some efford in to obtain (I lost a Golem once during a war in Empire space when the Marauder class was just introduced and they were 1 billion isk each).

I cant wait for your next episode(s) to come and inspire me and other even more!

Just finished listening, was a really good interview

Nice try on getting that info Big smile

As was said in the podcast as they have specific balancing roles and can't really comment on things they didn't work on maybe maybe that does lead to needing more of a round table approach with you guys having 3 or 4 devs in interview bouncing the questions off each other in an informal way.

Great interview guys, man he stone walled. But you did manage to get some blood out of that stone!

.. and wait, tbh I think I prefer to listen you guys talk about your fights.
