Do you group your weapons or not?

Unload the ammo and ungroup your guns. Then shift-drag the guns you want to group over each other.

Speaking as a grade a moron, I will definitely be ungrouping me missiles when the new launchers and graphic are launched. Going to be awesome having 7 missiles going in all sorts of directions @ 2 sec interval. DPS and alpha my ass - awesome looking is what counts when you are going through the pearly gates in one massive fireball.

With your weapons ungrouped, hold shift, click on weapon to group and drag to it's mate. Release shift, release click. You now have 2 weapons grouped. Repeat for any amount of groups you can deal with.

When blowing up ships that require less damage than all the guns do... (less overkill)
Having guns cycle at different times = increase chance to hit while target has lower transversal.

There should be no difference in any user-facing metric between firing n guns in a group and firing n guns separately at exactly the same time. It just saves us a bunch of server load when you group them Smile

Mister Greyscale Sir, with respect. When the new Missile Launchers arrive, I too will be ungrouping all my launchers just for the eye-candy which will ensue. Big smile How can I not watch those lovely missiles and launchers in operation, all the hard work the Dev's who made this possible worked so hard to do ?

I hope the servers are ready to cater for many other Missile players who will do the same thing, even if it eventually becomes "so so" and we group them once more.

If each gun's hit and damage is calculated individually even when grouped, how come you can't group different guns or guns with different ammo together?

While mixing guns with vastly different optimal ranges is not the smartest thing to do, it would be handy to mix my ammo types (same range, different damage type) for better damage coverage.

In the cat-and-mouse game that is low sec, there is no shame in learning to be a better mouse.

I usually do a 4/2/1 combo. 1 gun for rats on gates as we roam past, 2 guns for random frigates we gank and then all guns when a real battle takes place.

It saves on cap use and wear and tear on my crystals

It is my understanding that just as they did with turrets, through whizz bang client side trickery, you will see your missiles fire independently even when grouped. If I am correct this is essentially having your cake and eating it too.

Which brings me to my next point... Why would one seek to come into possession of said cake if one did not intend to eat it? I believe this is current design philosophy at ccp judging by recent work which equals win sauce.

So in summary... Whizz bang cake sauce. Looking forward to the pie.

My guess would be different ammo types and different cycle times. But it should go without saying that mixing weapons is a big no-no as is and you will gimp your overall damage output. If you want same range and different damage type then missiles or arties would be your best bet and just group them in pairs.

Just a guess, but I'd say the problem would be when you want to change ammo of 1 gun. How does it know which gun you mean? Some guns will run out of ammo faster than others. How do you have 1 grouped weapon icon showing 1 gun reloading and all the others firing? Wouldn't they have to make an icon that's a mix of the guns in the group?
Also imagine having heaps of different ammo in your cargo right clicking on the group and having it show which ammo you can use for each gun could make a big list to fit in a simple menu.

Remember the old saying. Keep it simple, stupid. It's a lot easier for everyone if they just keep it like this.

Hm. My impression so far has been that burning out guns through overheating has different effects when grouped and ungrouped - i.e. in a group, when one gun burns out completely, the whole group is broken, even though some guns could still fire individually. Has this changed?

On Sisi, you already have multiple missiles for grouped missile turrets. So, no need to ungroup to get missiles going multiple directions.
They already do when grouped.

I think you'll find that the eye candy is better if you leave them grouped as you have this magnificent "swarm of missiles" effect with them spiraliing or veering away/towards each other.

Try it both ways, they both look good, but the overall visual impact of the missile swarm is superior in my humble opinion.

100% damage weapons from overheating will disable all weapons, even if 7 of 8 guns are functioning, your whole stack will be disabled.

Which really sucks.

I group autocannons, but keep artillery ungrouped and staggered.

Works best for me.

Re: handling more than one target simultaneously, that is just a stoopid idea: Why have two partly damaged ships still shooting at you and both repping, when you could have killed one of them already?
