If they are waiting it doesn't take much effort to let us know instead of saying one thing then saying nothing after the time has passed. Pretty terrible public relations.

Personally I prefer dev blogs as the most reliable source of information.
That means if something is appointed in one of them and then is postponed, that must be announced by means of additional dev blog update or at least this forum section post as Loxy did mention the following:

Instead all we have is silence. I don't follow dev twitter/facebook/livejournal/whatever and I bet most of players neither do.
Making a propriate update, whether DB or forum post, takes no more than 10-15 minutes.
