EVE is 9 years old. It is a mature project that is late in the life cycle, so it is surprising that no accessibility features have been added.

While UI scaling has helped a bit, there are still no options to play EVE in a minimalistic, text oriented, mode. This mode already exists, it is called the thin client and is used by CCP to mass test without wasting computing time on rendering. With some adjustments the thin client could be made compatible with devices such as Braille displays and text to speech systems.

CCP has written EVE in such a way that is is completely incompatible with Braille displays. EVE lacks any sort of color blind mode and has no high contrast mode. Finally, EVE is moving away from text and towards lots of icons which make it even more difficult for visually impaired people to play.

Instead of fixing these problems CCP has been adding additional graphical updates such as the new missile effects, as if they do not consider accessibility to be a priority. This begs a very simple question: CCP, why u no like blind people?

im certain that sound is not needed to play eve i play daily without sound turned on
hearing problems are not as bad as having vision problems..
try this blind fold yourself and try pissing in toilet without missing and hitting the floor or wall.. ill do same with my ears and see if i still have perfect aim
eve devs could give visually impaired players option to change text color and message background color

no one said we were blind only that some of us are color blind, or loss of vision and have difficulty reading text adding option to change text and background color could be done with a few small lines of code in a small patch that we get several times per week

game play i can see and shoot rats or any ship its the text that we have trouble reading

CCP needs to add color to EVE for the color blind.

I am colour blind (Like literally 8% of males) and I can play eve fine.

If it was genuinely a problem, it would be brought up by more people than just forum trolls.

Theres a reason they call them video games. It isn't because they can be played in a minimalistic, text oriented, mode. Also I don't think the thin client works the way OP thinks it does.

I personally have to deal with a decreased ability to see color. While I have a lot of praise for game devs who go out of their way to accomodate for this I also think it is unfair to demand this of them. It costs money for them to add things in like this. If its such a big deal unsub and give them your reasons as to why. Money talks louder than the daily rant on the forums.

Saying all that is pointless though because OP is a known troll. Maybe he should spend his time whining to the devs of BF3 in order to make their game compatible with Braille displays and slander them as not liking blind people as well. Lifes not fair. We can't always do everything we want to in life.

They can. They can go to the forums and roll their face on your keyboard. They'll fit right in with everyone else.

As the Vice-President of the local chapter of the National Federation of the Blind and someone that is legally blind, I don't know whither to be more offended that someone would use my disability to simply stir up a random bit of anarchy, or to applaud your attempt (though it be ridiculous and borderline usable as grounds for committing you indefinitely for the safety of those around you) at trying to get a large corporation to find alternatives for the visually impaired.

In many ways, being limited as I am, Eve is one of the few games that I can play without much in the way of an issue. The graphics meet the rather considerable requirements that my vision does require, and the audio channels have been nice as well.

Here is the thing though:

If you cannot see, then you can't play. Common sense. Something that you seem to be lacking.

If you really are as insensitive, and narrow-minded enough to use one of the most prevelent disabilities in the world in an offhanded attempt to be a bigger forum troll than someone else, then I pity you.In the way that I pity a kitten with a broken limb, or a deer with a bullet through it's spine.

I pity you because you are far more damaged than I am.

I will be following this posting up with an email to the CCP CSGM department . Perhaps I can make a suggestion to them that will make sense to them regarding a forum troll that creats potential liability for them.

Blind people can play Eve if they hire homeless people to tell them what is happening on the screen and where to put there hands. I do this sometimes when I need to rest my eyes.

Dear CCP;
I demand you make silly, pointless, and useless changes to the way you write your game, even if such changes are hideously impractical, ruinously expensive, and /or impossible.

Fail in this, and I shall waggle my finger at you and ***** impotently.

Thank you,
Whinging Loser.
As a blind person upon reading this i could barely believe my eyes. What was this before me. Such a insult i had to recall in horror. I was unable to even look at the screen for few minutes. After crying the corner for a bit i look up to see my deaf wife standing over me. " I can hear your sobs from the kitchen" she exclaimed " What has offend so much that you fill my ears with your sobbing". I look at the computer screen and said

" I can hardly believe it but this man is typing insults on the internet"

She was taken back.

She looked like she was about to cry. I Quickly sighted her Favorited stuffed animal. and then I realised I was blind and could not see anything.
