The fit on the Rifter was heavily combat-oriented. The ninja wasn't looking to maximize their salvage from the look of things, and a Rifter with a single salvager in the utility high slot is a pretty good choice in that situation over, say, a Vigil.

Ninja salvager came into my mission, I was scared as **** (mighty rifter vs my Battleship) and didnt know what to do.
Warped out instantly, came back with shuttle to check whats happening and saw him ninja salvaging and looting (so he was flashy red)
I went back, created fast a pvp fitting for my Thorax, went back and killed him.
I know it's so little and nobody cares but

I feel like a boss now

I like letting those guys tank the mobs in the instance... or in the last pot meet kettle I was in, shoot as many mines as I can and kill his ship.

I love that mission

Congrats. I still fondly remember my first kill on my other (long since biomassed) character. I suicide ganked my wife's Retreiver. She hasn't played since, but no longer whines about me saying "one sec babe, I'm in a dangerous spot".

I won't say you are stupid, but you're not exactly on the Zombie menu either.

That is awesome beyond words.

In other words, he wasn't a ninja-salvager - he was a ninja-looter whose intention was exactly as the OP suspected.

Came up against someone who was that bit smarter and got his just deserts.

Nice one, OP.

You are the ultimate EVE player. You did what you wanted and you exploded someone while doing it. Not only that you recorded the story to share with us and that is the most important step.

Just remember to wait out the aggression countdown before you take your mission ship out again. Oh and next time he'll probably be a trap. Meaning you shoot him and his buddy warps in on top of you with a HAC or more likely, Command Ship.

This is especially likely anywhere near Dodixie or other Mission HUBs.

Good job though, and that comment about the Dark side and how it is hard not to be following it after. Well, Darkside aside, it isn't unlikely that you won't be PvPing in the future.

Bloodthirsty newbies, I love it.

Cool first kill. Mine wasn't nearly so glorious, I unintentionally killed an Ibis stealing some ore I'd mined Roll However, I've been bloodthirtsy ever since...

I salute your glorious pvp future Big smile

This is in fact the correct way to handle ninja salvagers.

People constantly harp on about how when someone ninjas your mission you should immediately run away and dock until he goes away, or how if you shoot him a million logistics ships will warp in and start repping the ninja. These people are paranoid, gutless children who can't even be brave in a video game.

It's all horseshit, just shoot the guy in the face until he dies.

I salute you OP.

o7 Nice job OP, and doubly so sharing it with us...

With as trolly as some people in Eve can be (myself included), I salute you for sharing.
I bet you may have expected a bunch of "get a real kill, blah blah blah", but nope.

Eve players can be real d-bags sometimes, but we all appreciate a good face shooting. Especially since like so
many others have said, 99% of the mission bears would just bend over and take it.

Way to go man.

Good luck in the future.

Don't fly safe. Fly dangerously.

If you run into more than 2 a**holes in a day, you should probably look in the mirror.

You are a true EvE player. A missioner trying out something new in EvE and blowing up somebody in the process, its a beautiful thing!

Your story will hopefully inspire other high sec players to try the same.
Well done good sir, never stop trying new things!

If I had a fully fitted Lvl 4 missioning Battleship Monster, and a tiny Rifter came on Grid stealing my stuff, I'd run for the hills too man!!! Well Done!! Big smile

Welcome to the dark side.

My first kill was kind of the same. Except I used a Manticore and sat cloaked waiting for the guy to steal something. When I started shooting he convoed me and asked "Why?"

Then my alliance exec accused me of being a can baiter Cry

Well done good sir, well done!

I don't think anyone is frankly going to attack you for that.

I have had many 'firsts' in EVE that have given me a great thrill.

Good man. Thanks for having the mindset that keeps the game interesting for everyone.
