Mining - why is the red headed stepchild of EVE and why does CCP continue to neglec it?

Why - if it is a profession of EVE does CCP do nothing but neglect it and allow miners in EVE to become the brunt of hate. If it weren't for players willing to sit and perform what many consider the most boring aspect ever conceived in a game - this game wouldn't exist. Ore is everything in this game. It is used to make all the ships that people just feel the need to constantly destroy.

The last real effort CCP made to mining was when they introduced hulks and that was 6 years ago! Six years and mining has seen little to no changes since then.

Miners of EVE are the joke of the game. Isn't it time for CCP to either just remove that aspect from the game or fix it? When will the mining profession become a viable and as important of a profession as grief ganking seems to have become?

This is completely wrong. Don't mine AFK. Everyone I know who lost a hulk was watching Netflix or reading or AFK while mining.

Miners deserve your hate. Embrace it.

You're forgetting hidden belts, which were a nice addition. However, those belts could use some fine tuning.

Aside from that, you're 100% correct. It's as if ccp sees people mining, and think mining must be all good to go.

Not our fault they keep shiptoasting threads like this one and perpetuating themselves as the proverbial punchlines.

Do you get it yet? It's not the mining that enbitters us to you. It's the mewling.

CP just massively buffed mining. Mining income has literally doubled in the last 2 months. That's probably the single largest buff any profession has recieved since at least 2006.

People that complain about getting run over, whilst standing in the middle of the road, are never going to command a lot of respect.

In hindsight my post should have had more psssshhhh

OP is a miner, is terrible at it, and is the brunt of other player's hate for whining.

Just guess but for the most part mining isn't broke, and has worked well or the players made it work.

Also those who complain the loudest get the most changes.
And well there is no denying the loudest cry babies in the game by far are the PvP crowd.
What was it last year people were throwing a tantrum and quitting cause they didn't get a PvP aspect of the game changed.

So changes to mining may come eventually but as CCP isn't being threatened, when they come, 9 out of 10 they will most likely be good changes and won't need to get reworked every year like the PvP side.

Miner is a profession in game and if miners would think a little bit (it's not need much think just a little is enough) they would also benefit from this.

But seems to be better post in forum then to take advantage of the situation Shocked

Perhaps you shouldn't build houses over existing roads then.

Just as you shouldn't use the most expensive mining vessel avaiilable to AFK mine, with the most vulnerable fittings possible, in congested area's where it is difficult to see hostiles entering system with you.

What more could you possibly add to a profession that consists of shooting rocks with lasers?

Mining needs to be completely re done. Simply adding onto it in the current form won't accomplish anything.

Maybe the problem isn't mining...maybe multiboxing is the problem.
Many miners multibox a small armada of mining alts- that's why they don't want mining to be more interactive and less boring.
Without multiboxing, we could have an actually enjoyable mining system. Even if CCP didn't change a thing, many miners would actually enjoy watching local + Dscan to avoid ganks, because that would keep them busy.
Without multiboxing, there would be no more falcon alts, no offgrid booster alts, no war-immune npc corp freighter alts....New Eden would be the new Utopia.Cool

I'd like to apologize for the poor quality of the post above and sincerely hope you didn't waste your time reading it. Yes, I do feel bad about it.

You target a rock and turn on your laser. I mean c'mon ****. I suppose if you really wanted to be 'pro' and feel like you're doing something enjoyable you could have 'ops' where several of you target a rock and turn on your laser. How the hell are you supposed to spice that up??

Liquor and nudity is about the only thing that would help. OR some explosions.

For every one of these threads I see I laugh a little bit more, for every miner that threatens to quit as a result, for the ones that ACTUALLY do it, the other miners get a fraction richer at the fact that the whiney ragequitting miners minerals aren't hitting the market, keep quitting, while there is players in this game there will always be someone willing to put the grind in to make the isk Lol

Also, TANK YO SHEET
