It's my understanding that the old Cyno effect, in which a VORTEX OF LIGHTNING APPEARED AND THE SHIP WAS THROWN FROM IT, was awesome.

This new thing, even when they get the timing down, can in no way surpass that sort of epicness. Why you can't tell your effects artist to just recreate 'That old one, but updated' is beyond me. That's what the players want. Do you learn NOTHING? Do you not LISTEN? Do you not understand that bringing back a much-requested feature, much as you have done with hangar view, would give you a lot of credit with us?

Criticism of the new effect itself: It's really pretty good. Just not as good as swirling lightning from which demi-gods pop forth.

well according to what physical law you assuming your timing is right one ?

I mean the one given could be right one too .. ship appears causes change of energy flow with following effect of energy explosion.

Dont know i am not physicist but for me its matter of opinion and your own perception of what looks right and what wrong ..

The jumpdrive opens a spacial rift the ship then jumps through - assuming the light and flashes represent that spacial rift, it would make sense to jump when the rift is at its maximum. It should also be accompanied by a loud 'Swoosh' sound, because we all know that's how rifts sound (due to the doppler effect).

its got the 'boom - awesome now in system', it lacks the old 'bzzzt-boom spacetime has been ****** with' from the old one tho...

edit: the OLD old one, not the 'pop - hi guys' thing we've had recently

Just an idea,

Would be cool if the color of the Jump in flash could be dependent on the Fuel that the ship uses.

ex. Hydrogen = Blue Flash, Oxygen = Yellow, nitrogen = inert (Pick a color??), HELIUM = Pink (ROFL!)

i think it is an improvement but there is a lot of room for tuning :)

i will reserve final judgment until the final version but i have 2 pieces of feedback

1. please please have an awesome sound effect .. along the lines of someone ripping open your skull with a loud bang while you have a hangover..

2. please rethink the little fly away animation on the jump out ... bit on the cheesy side and unnesessary as your ship isn't really flying anywhere anyways. crank up the lightning effect that is there already and i would be giggly happy

other then that .. thankyou for finally taking the time to bring luv to the capital effects for the old vets like me :)

Well considering they've taken years and are not as good as the old effect, I don't hold out much hope for any type of change.

wtf u mean rifts 'swoosh' cause of the doppler effect. last time i checked there was no sound in space other then maybe the hot air comming from the 'ccp physics consultant'. The only shift thst takes place due to doppler effects is in the light spectrum and ththat don't make noise :)

One thing I learned from SiSi is that once it's on there, it's in the game no matter how broken it is.

The new cyno beacon is great, I always found the looks of it awesome, but not enough worked out - now it looks great.

The new jump effect - sorry, no. Why can we not just have the old one back?

This one is basically a plasma smartbomb with a small and fast AOE doomsday effect. Plus, omg, take the ******* WH jump effect out. Why ever was it made a non-WH exclusive jump animation?

Why not the old giant blue/white cone, updated, just without moving half a circle? T

he ship model decloak is terribly wrong in time.

The game has sound?

I haven't seen the new effects on SISI yet, but from the video they look nice, a lot better than the current one. There is one thing I hope you guys DON'T change. The blackops bridge (eg, the one from a Widow/Sin/Panther). I don't know if anyone agrees with me, but I've always LOVED that one. It looks like a mini black hole being ripped in the universe.

Edit: Adding something constructive.

*sigh* It's for the same reason lasers go 'pewpew' and eve ships fly in liquid space - common sci-fi trivia.

In the case of the cyno effect it's common sense dramaturgy - any third-class David Copperfield-wannabe will make the bunny appear after the flash - not just throw a flashbomb on a bunny that unspectaculary crawled on stage through a hidden door a few seconds before.

That and E=mc² of course...

After CCP announced almost an year ago that they hired some super special guys to work exactly on the cyno and jump effects, to see this result after so much time is kinda disturbing.

Yes its better then the current ones but no match for the old one. To see a ship coming through the vortex of lightnings was an amazing experience and was giving you the impression of travel, it was really looking like this ship just crossed an ocean of stars to appear infront of you.

This now is kinda "meh" and even though i realize its a test stuff, simply improving it will not do, IMO It needs to be completely redone.

The old effect is just hands down way better than anything since, including this new attempt. Why is CCP being so stubborn about bringing the old effect back?

only person stubborn here is you.

Old effects were just bad when more than 1 person jumped in.

New effects are over too quick. Also the ship fading out of existence, sort of want to see it do BSG FTL sort of effect on entering Jump.

There are good ships,

And wood ships,

And ships that sail the sea

But the best ships are Spaceships

um.. the old effect was ugly as ass. it was just BIG

the new effect looks much nicer, just needs minor tweaks.

Tedium and difficulty are not the same thing, if you don't realize this then STFU about game design.
