Station Lockout - A Compromise

A lot of people have been flipping out over the station docking issue.

What if instead of it being an automatic thing -- the whole station-lockout mechanism was actual an upgrade, similar to other upgrades they are implementing?

1. Any 'underdog' militia could simply plex the level/LP out of the system so that the upgrade was no longer usable. They wouldn't even have to completely take the system.

-In other words, an aggressive Faction would essentially have to pay LP and heavily defend their plexes to keep the upgrade running.

2. In most cases, as someone has said before, upgrading every system would be hard to maintain, so most of the systems where the lock-out upgrades are implemented would be major systems militias live in.

'Underdog' militias could easily move around in/dock/live in back-end systems in the warzone that the more aggressive factions aren't as carefully paying attention to.

In my opinion this would solve a multitude of problems, and it would add a new layer to the sandbox where players are more directly in control of what they want to do with the system they own...

You may even see militias bribing/paying each other to take down the upgrade in a system a lot of people need to move stuff out of,

ie: pay us 500mil, and we'll give you 24 hours...

And you may even see more neutrals get involved on a smaller-scale -- not just for helping take a system but helping a militia in a plex long enough for them to render the upgrade null.....for a mercenary's fee of course.

Reasonable enough compromise to me. Heh, with that I might rejoin FW to play around with it abit.

This is an excellent idea. I would rather CCP delay implementation to incorporate a well-thought out design like this than rush to just make a change to FW.

FW should be a front-fighting war. Either you pour massive resources into the system you are pressuring to hold on the edge, or you pick a system behind the front to fortify. Call it a "Station Security" upgrade, or grant it as a higher level upgrade of a system CCP already has in place.

This is a very good compromise.

another idea is that the station lock outs should apply to the faction stations, TLF/24th Imperial/ECT and said stations shoot at the enemy factions. and the others are just deny services, repair/missions/refining/ect.

why should a minmatar station full of minmatar soldiers suddenly deny access and shoot their own dudes just because you ran some plexes and shoot a bunker with cheap ships on your alt? it is still a TLF station and the crew does not magically change because someone did some boring PvE, it does not even make sense.

if amarr take control of a system they kick out the minnie dudes from inside the station u idiot.
Why else wouldn't u be able to dock in it.

Just because a side builds a bunker in war its not like the enemy cant use the guns because there no theirs.

What a crap post.

or just introduce a docking fee for the opposing faction, all fees from said station would go toward upgrading the system :)
