Hello EVE,

please help me, I don't really know what else I can try. I have the following Issue (and had it for quite some time, but it has increased since the last patch):

From time to time, one of my clients (I run them in Window-Mode) will grey out and I'll get a windows infobox saying "This exe file doesn't work anymore and has to be closed". The other clients will remain completely unaffected, and I can simply restart the client, login and resume playing - since my other chars and corpmates run a severe risk of dying through my disconnects, however, I really need to fix this!

Eve Online is the only application exhibiting this behaviour btw, all other games run fine. It seems to happen more as I play more accounts, and happens very rarely (but it does) when I play one account in fullscreen mode.

Things I've tried so far:
- I've set all settings on all clients to low, disabled sound and eve voice, and I play with the map activated on all chars, navigating only through the overview and watchlist. Talk about fun :(
- I've run repair.exe, it hashed and said everything is fine
- I updated all my PCs drivers through the Slimdrivers utility, which now says all my drivers are up to date
- I updated my windows with all "important" and "optional" windows updates.
- I cleared all my cache files, first through the ingame button and then manually (deleting all files under the application data folder in my username path)
- Following the instructions here I've setup a junction and seperate desktop links for all my accounts, and I only run each account from the respective clients.

With great expecations I got back into eve, and indeed the steps I took (especially the drivers) have helped my (obviously unrelated) bluescreen problems. Unfortunately, about 10 minutes into playing one of my clients crashed once again :( It was all in vain it seems.

Then today I stumbled upon this thread, and got my hopes up again. On page 3 a Dev says to use PingPlotter to track ping to 87.237.38.200. I've set the Trace Interval to one second and it has recorded no packet loss whatsoever during my client crashes.

Here's information on my system, please post any additional information you need. HALP ME!

Having similar problems when using two clients.

Usually occurs shortly after other account is active on grid with me.

Just before the crash sound effects on main start stuttering and distorting, then get a ccpexefile crash to desktop involving mscvr100.dll.

Have tried dual accounts using symlink and separate copy of eve. Sound enabled / disabled. Windows default sound drivers, and manufacturer drivers. Cleared cache, repair tool, defragged hdd.

Trying a fresh install of eve now.

Memory: 4096MB RAM

You should seriously consider upgrading your physical RAM, because windows is probably swapping ALOT with 2 clients open, which also slows down the client and sometimes produces errors if the swap is under heavy load (have you checked your swaps harddrive for read/write/SMART errors?).

I have installed EVE on a 64GB SSD and created symbolic links for each account kinda like in the wiki and upgraded the RAM to 32GB and disabled the swap file completely, no client problems since then anymore.

I would recommend 8GB at least, better 16 if you want to disable swap, but i have upgraded the whole pc (mb+cpu+ram) to use the cheaper DDR3 Ram, so this is maybe no option for you right now.

Thanks alot for the reply Jin,

yeah I been suspecting it could be an issue, especially since I changed my OS to Win7 maybe 4gb ram are a thing of the past. My board is pretty old though, so I'm sure ram will be a little expensive for a student/eve-addict-slob like me... Blink (not speaking of replacing the board which I just can't afford atm).

Since I'm a stupid user, can you explain what exactly you mean by "checking my swaps harddrive" (I'm using a single harddrive) for "smart errors"? I haven't run checkdisk/defrag in a while, now that you mention it...

Will get to it straight away, any other suggestions?

Just thought I'd add I ran two clients on 4gb ram for nearly a year without any problems, should be fine, although with the memory leak that's going on at the moment...

Well this is more of an issue when I play 3 or 4 clients ;) but yeah it happens with 2 and occasionally with just the one as well.

Update:

Today I ran checkdisk, a complete defragmentation with ooDefrag, as well as a quick malware scan (windows defender) and a quick virus scan (windows security utilities). Fragmentation was pretty bad, so I had hopes...

But then just now I had the error occur once again on a single account with no other programs opened (except for a .txt file and zonealarm running in the background.) Makes it less likely in my book that it's a ram related issue... It happened as I was inside a POS with the camera zoomed in, so maybe it is graphics related; but then I've had it before with just the map on.

Help me someone :(((

Here's the log from windows event viewer (it's in german sorry): http://eve-files.com/dl/254511

I just thought I'd delete the trinity_deploy.dll in question and have the repair tool download it back again, let's see if that helps...

Update: Nope, crashed again after a hopeful hour :(

When I tried sending a petition about this, I got the following message:

Yesterday in help channel someone suggested memtest, wish I'd thought about that before :)

One of my 2 ram blocks was faulty, taking it out no more crashes occured for an hour today, so I hope that's it.
