However that's never been the 'vision'. What was presented at FanFest, and talked about many times in the past, would be that your CQ is just that - yours. It's something that you could personalize and take with you as you travel the galaxy. Questions like:

  • How big is it? Would you need an indy or freighter to move it?
  • Does it (and all your cool stuff) die if you lose the ship it's being moved in?

That kind of stuff would obviously need to be worked out. Hopefully someone IS working it out. It's my hope that this 'vision' is still the ultimate goal of this feature and I'll be waiting to see more information on where CCP plans on Incarna to be in the next five years. One assumes that it will be further along than the results of the last five. Cool

If I remenber it correctly they said that the normal CQ is like a motel room and the customized CQ will be your CQ that stays where it is. Why should a room travel with you????

As far as customised CQ goes, that's an easy fix. Stations have lots of modular assets on tap, and your pod has a copy of the layout of your CQ. So as you are being pulled out of your pod and showered down (off-screen), the station staff quickly whip a standard room into your prefered layout.

For bonus points, CCP can use their new library of modular art assets to reproduce your CQ layout - with another race's art assets.

Why can I fit rail guns to an Apocalypse?

Point is, there's been a lot of stuff said about this feature over the years, even at the most recent FanFest (when they weren't talking about how glorious NVIDIA was). I'm just curious as to what's happened with any of those ideas or what the current plan is. I assume there is one and we'll see it ~soon~.

nice to see that - after convincing CCP to shift resources from WiS to FiS - we are back to "there is not enough WiS content"

No, more like... after five years what we have is what we have. I'm curious as to what else will happen with this feature, if anything. Nothing wrong with thinking about it, but if it came down to a choice, I'm always going to say Spaceships First.

although i had no time for WIS and the idea behind it when it was first pushed out all them years ago, but at least that vision was going to add somthing to eve, war rooms for corps, displaying fleets and systems of importance in a war room setting. 5 years later 4 rooms and a bar is what shows up. well yay that wasnt worth the wait.

if you love incarna great, if your just waiting for them to move on to somthing else, great also.

tbh personnaly ill be just glad when they finish this waste of time and get back to ships, you know the ones most of us signed up to make explode. the ones i know for sure i signed up to make explode to say the least.

OMG when can i get a pic here

Since about 3% (generous) of what was discussed at FF2009 made it anywhere, I'd say trying to hold CCP to anything they say at FF is futile.

Oh God.

I agree with most of what you say OP.

I would accept anything to do with stations as long as it has no impact on the space-side. The second it impacts on that I have an issue.

I want walking in stations as a concept and can understand the massive implications this has on ccp. I would prefer that it is less pretty and more functional though (less pretty graphics and more running about assassinating folks)

Make it gameplay and not some kind of graphical objective.

I want station entertainment but would accept it less pretty and more fun.

You don't need to suspend your suspension of disbelief to make it work. Its all in the game'a lore.

Did you know that your capsule has a "trunk" of sorts where you carry your clothes and most personal belongings? I mean... its a 5 meter tall metal egg.. Look at the wall in the room you're currently in, and realize that wall is probably 3 to 3 and a half meters tall. So the pod isn't exactly small (at least shouldn't be on the CQ. Don't get me started on the POD in the CQ....).

Read this short story and take particular heed of this passage:

Quote:
Gaspar’s suite was more of an apartment, with a huge living room and a luxurious bedroom. The suite was decorated in the latest Gallentean fashion, contrasting nicely with the somber but stylish Amarr fashion. Gaspar unloaded the cart robot in the living room and sent it rumbling back. Then he ushered Naine out of the room.

Its an Amarr station.. but his suite, is decorated in Gallente fashion because that is how he likes it.

So the things you said in your blog make sense from a in-game lore standpoint. You want all the things you proposed? Sure you can have them.. In ONE station only.

That gives an even greater feeling that you have a true HOME, and everyone else is just, in fact, a hotel room. You want to personalize other suites in other stations? Sure. Move your stuff, and risk having it destroyed. Or just outright buy some more.. hehe..

You don't need to explain how an exact copy of your "fully personalized suite" is present in every single hell-hole you dock at. no matter the size of your ship. Because if it happens like that, then your "fully personalized suite" has no true meaning to it.

If its still the same everywhere you go, its still just a stinking hotel room.

By the way it just struck me.. You want everywhere you go to be just as you want it to be? Simple then.. Always carry your customized stuff in your cargohold..

But you did catch the part where i meant to say that, in essence, that means that whoever kills you also wins him/herself a new(used) baby seal skin couch for his own use right? Lol

I'm pretty sure you did.. but last thing i want are crazy people preaching our CSM are promoting fluff indestructible stuff.

I've never had an issue with this sort of thing. I think it would be hilarious to gank someone's freighter and their collection of fake Jamyl Sarum porn drop as loot.

The blog post before the new captains quarters post talked about ship spinning returning. How did you miss that?

Not about ship spinning returning. What was missing from this devblog was the key info about how the DOOR will be replaced with ship spinning.

Just have no idea if they mean the door bitmap, or the actual 3D model door.

Or both..

Interesting blog, I agree with the OP. What I don't understand is that the CSM is pushing CCP to refocus on EvE when they got mad at them for feature abandonment. I recall The Mittani criticizing Dominion for being 75% incomplete (i.e. missing treaty feature) and now they are asking Incarna to be nearly abandoned?

Hypocritical? maybe

Just food for thought. I still like this CSM though.
