I would like to hire the services of somebody familiar with excel for some work.

Don't be alarmed by my ignorance in this field as I hope to make myself understood in the end.

I have a list of 1200-1500 items that I need turned into a shopping list of some kind. Each item should have a box for prices that and another for amount. And a big total box at the end that sums up prices based on amount and value. After it's completion I should be able to give a copy of this to any of my clients by which they can easily calculate contract value.

If there is someone out there that knows how to do this give me a shout in game with your price.

I've made several spreadsheets for industrial interests in the past. 1200-1500 items shouldn't take too long if all you need is a quantity, price and total calculated, but it's going to be a considerable number of hours just punching in all the formulas and data. I'd expect a good 20-40 hours. What's your price range for a project like this?

Why not do it yourself? Just a formula, a bunch of data entry, and autosum.

Check out the Eve Industrial Organiser you may need more than one copy of course for 1,500 different item, although coping the rows shouldn't be that difficult and shouldn't be too difficult to get the totals to extend further down as well.

If you like it send Sidrat Flush a Plex and let this character know.

Good luck.

Column A: Item name - Filled in
Column B: Item Price - Filled in
Column C: Item Quantity - To be filled in.
Column D: Item Subtotal: =b2*c2 (then filled down, which will auto update all the references)

Then in another column off to the side for your grand total:
=sum(D2:D1501)

That's the simple option.

The more complex option, which would look better involves putting A and B into another sheet, then using multiple rows with dropdowns (http://spreadsheets.about.com/od/datamanagementinexcel/qt/20071113_drpdwn.htm) to select the items, and vlookups (http://www.techonthenet.com/excel/formulas/vlookup.php) to get the price for them. Then it's pretty much the same. Just a cleaner sheet, when people aren't wanting to buy the majority of things.

Woo! CSM XI!
