What is the best ship for highsex plex and exploration sites?

I am thinking of getting into exploration and plex sights in highsec and am wondering what would be a good ship.

I currently fly Caldari and I am considering Amarr. I have considered a Nighthawk a Navy Augoror and a Prophecy. I am open to any recommend.

What kind of range can I get on the Navy Aug? Can I hit things 50km out?

I am growing bored with Eve and if I do not find a new way to have fun I am going to stop playing within the next 30 days.

T3. Especially Tengu, but they all work just fine (I tend to use a Loki myself).

If you can fly a Nighthawk, you can fly a Tengu -- and for this purpose you should. If you want to explore high sec (which, meh, go to low, but each to his own) you want an all in one setup, so make sure you have both the accelerated ejection bay and the emergent locus analyzer. If you want to run radars, you'll need to fit a codebreaker as well. You don't have to trick out your fit; high sec exploration doesn't require much tank.

I can be in a Nighthawk in 14 days. That is why I am considering it.

Then a Tengu should be ~7 days. Caldari Strategic Cruiser 1 and all 5 subs to 4 should be fine. Offensive to 5 would be a plus.

I actually already have a tengu with all 5 subs at 4 or better. I do not want to use it for this because I also use it for sneaking around in low and null if I need or want to. I suppose I could get a second hull and play with that a bit though...

What subs would you recommend? Passive or Active tanked? I have never flown one in a combat role.

You should have known the answer would have been the Tengu when it came to "best ship" and not in a PvP or incursion scenario.

As to boredom... maybe you don't want to use missiles?
Pew pew of pretty lights, the complications of range and tracking (because range is rarely an issue with heavy missiles), watching your shields melt as if they weren't there before seeing your armor tank shrug off the incoming DPS... I think Amarr might be more fun for you. (of course, I hear they are better for PvP as well)

But if that doesn't do it for ya.... then....

I can haz ur stuff?

I'm thinking a ship based off the Thorax hull, followed by an armageddon based hull or an Omen based hull.

If you already have a tengu that you use for sneaking around, just swap the subsystems around and use it for exploration too. Rigs don't make that big of a difference - it's still going to be better than NH for the job. Unless your tengu is and will be located in nullsec, that is.

You can even carry the subs around where ever you are, thus you can stealthily seek the sites and swap into a fit if you have a friendly station around.

Drone ships are the way to go.
You need empty high and mid slots for probe launcher, salvager, codebreaker, analyzer.
So gun or missile ships are not suitable as they take up the high slots.

Drone ships are a waste of time in exploration for any but the youngest of Eve capsuleers or for anybody who is capable of running Combat sites. If you can run the combat sites, do yourself a favor and skip the Mags and Radars as their payouts in highsec are pitiful and focus instead on the 3/10 and 4/10 DED sites. It's not uncommon to see drops in the 4/10 sites worth upwards of 1bil ISK, depending on which NPC space you are exploring. Now consider the "average" payout for Highsec Radars is in the ~20mil ISK per site range (purely anecdotal) and Mags are worth even less, you can understand why it's in the best interest of any explorer to get yourself a Tengu, or any of the other less effective T3s, and start hunting down those DED sites.

Ishtar > Tengu > other T3s

You need speed and DPS, and certainly doing those Radars is worth it, they take less five minutes so they have a very nice isk/hour rate. And why not salvage the elite wreck.

Especially rate of fire is important when contesting for popping the overseers. Fit the Ishtar for dual-prop and Neutrons, and laugh at those Tengus.

You will also want an AF for the smaller plexes, Ishkur wins that race.
