Help with Career Agent Mission

Okay so I working my way through the exploration career agent missions but have run into a snag. I've got the basics down, send out probes start big narrow down smaller. I was able to do the grav and mag missions with relative ease. I am however stuck on the radar mission. I'll send the probes out and maybe get one or two hits where the last missions would have ten to fifteen. If I am able to get a hit on a radar site when I narrow the search down to the 8 to 16 au range the sites I was looking at just disappear. Don't really know what I am doing wrong. Any help would be appreciated.
