Im starting it with this script (I see this was fixed with the 5/2 patch)

# T3 bug fix for now
(while true; do rm -r ~/.wine/drive_c/users/ron/Local\ Settings/Application\ Data/CCP/EVE/c_program_files_ccp_eve_tranquility/cache/ships/* 2>/dev/null; done) &

Hi! I'm having the exact same problem, and I've been trying to contact support or post here on the forums, both with no success. (Infamous "We were Ganked" error.) Log server log is here: http://pastebin.com/LDyaW14N

(Edit: Yay, I can reply but not open up new threads -.-)

Edit: OK, more details.

wine git 1.25 raw noGLARB and 1.5.1 tested
aptosid w/ 3.3-1.slh.2-aptosid-686
EVE is up to date
nvidia driver 295.33

winetricks has:
corefonts
d3dx11_42
d3dx9_26
d3dx9_28
d3dx9_31
d3dx9_35
d3dx9_36
d3dx9_39
d3dx9_42
d3dx9
eufonts
gecko120
mfc42
steam
vcrun2005
vcrun2008
vcrun2010
vcrun6sp6
vcrun6

EVE is in its own prefix.

What I tried:
- Fiddling around with several DLL overrides in winecfg, following suggestions on several message boards
- Trying out different desktop settings in winecfg
- Trying out several compatibility modes
- Running the repair tool
- Updating EVE several times through the launcher, then reinstalling from scratch
- Running eve.exe or bin/ExeFile.exe
- dist-upgrading
- A lot more I can't remember right now, because the forums decided they would delete my saved draft of a very long new topic -.-

Drop all the winetrick stuff and only get the corefonts (you only need a single font and for the market history chart).
Check that OpenGL is actually working by running glxgears.
Check that your OpenGL supports S3 texture compression by looking at glxinfo.
Drop the script regarding T3 ships. It has been fixed.
Disable station environments.

Loss is meaningful. Therefore is the loss of meaning likewise meaningful. It is the source of all trolling.

I went in and deleted all apps, dlls etc in wintricks and then just loaded corefonts.
It seemd once I goofed with winetricks, I dont get the splash screen now. Did I make it worse by using the "delete all apps etc from winetricks? -Edit: yeah that was obviously bad, re-installing Eve...

glxgears shows the gears when I run it

I see this from a grep of glxinfo
GL_ATI_texture_mirror_once, GL_S3_s3tc, GL_EXT_texture_env_add,
I assume the GL_S3_s3tc is the texture compression?

This is the start script now
env WINEPREFIX="/home/ron/.wine" taskset 1 wine explorer /desktop=EVE1,1920x1080 "C:\Program Files\CCP\EVE\eve.exe"

Im not sure how to disable the station environments

Uncheck "load station environment" in the graphics opttions of the 'esc' config window.

If you can't get *that* far check .xsession-errors to see if you are getting "*** glibc detected *** ..\bin\ExeFile.exe: free(): invalid next size (fast):"

I've been chasing that one around one of my systems for a couple of days now.

Read the LogServer log I posted, I doubt this has something to do with DLLs and the like. (Errors stemming from DLLs are clearly identified in WINE's log alone.) Seeing errors like this:

1364 2012.04.26 07:06:11:859 File "c:/depot/games/branches/release/EVE-TRANQUILITY/eve/client/script/ui/shared/planet/pinContainers/LaunchpadContainer.py", line 15, in module
1365 2012.04.26 07:06:11:859 AttributeError: 'module' object has no attribute 'StorageFacilityContainer'

or this:

662 2012.04.26 07:06:11:817 Bootstrapping script:/ui/services/reprocessingsvc.py:
663 2012.04.26 07:06:11:817 File "c:\depot\games\branches\release\EVE-TRANQUILITY\carbon\common\lib\nasty.py", line 969, in ImportBootstrap
664 2012.04.26 07:06:11:817 ImportError: ('No module named listentry', 'listentry')

, it seems there is something wrng withine EVE itself, i. e. an update not having been performed correctly. Alas, installing from scratch doesn't fix this, so this seems to be more complicated. (I even uninstalled the Windows way, so the registry should not have had any entries about EVE when I reinstalled.)

Given the names of the missing modules, it looks like EVE should define those itself, as - to my knowledge - the Windows API functions or methods thend to have more specialized names. I assume EVE comes with its own packaged Python, so changing Python's version locally should have no effect, right? Otherwise, this could very well stem from an incorrect Python version.

Edit: Dafuq! To the admins of this place: I was unable to post when < or > were included in my message. This could very well be a clue to fixing that annoying 'ganked' error...

Re-Edit: OK, guess it was just luck that it worked when I removed these...

afaik any wine older than 1.4 will not work.
