I say "to-may-toes". You say "to-mah-toes". Why do we fight?

Er...why can't we all just GET ALONG?

"Ahma PVE kinda guy. I like that computer-generated opposition. To me it's like going toe-to-toe with the devs. They say, 'Try this, suckah!' I say, 'Let me attem foo'!' I used to box middle-weight. I'd say that's more PvP than most folks see in a lifetime. Why can't PvP-ers just pass us 'I'd rather be doing something a bit more low-key' folks by. Aren't there plenty of people to mix it up with? OR...is it you just want to pound on somebody who can't pound back to get a vicarious thrill that you're really doing something I used to get paid to do, smackin' the bejeezus outta sumbuddy? I have no doubt...just want to see if honesty lives."

"I mine. It's part of this intricate industrial/marketing enterprise me and a few folks have put together using EVE mechanics and our own initiative. My job is mining. Other folks mastered marketing and manufacturing. Together we accomplish great things and have tons of fun doing it. I know this sort of fun isn't for everyone, but it's our kind of fun. EVE-ers use the stuff we build to keep going in the game. If it weren't for the likes of us, the market would be EMPTY. Can I get a 'live and let live' from you on this?"

"I PvP. I've spent years developing the skills, loading the queue, losing ships, killing ships to the point where I'm quite proficient at this combat thing. Small roaming groups, medium-sized fleet fights, anything but the blob; I'm in come Hell or high water. It's my thing. It's what I do. I've got some friends who do it with me, and we've been doing it so long together we work like a well-oiled machine. We don't win every fight. We don't cry about the losses unless it was some STUPID mistake. Equal opponents are good. Beating someone that's better...is better. We got game."

"I'm into the same thing with every game I play. If it's not in it, I don't play it. Me and some buds like to come up on some poor, unsuspecting carebear and murderlize them, rob them blind and run off laughing our arses off. We're not allowed to do this in real life (without going to jail), so we do it here. It's fun. It's funny. Some gotta win. Some gotta lose. Poor old carebear's got the blues. Stay off my game style. We have the right to fight. It's our party!"

Now, I've been thinking lately about two numbers; 0 and 1. To be a 0 is to be a nobody, a has been, a clod. To be number 1 is to be the acme, the winner - the top of the heap. What disturbs me about these two numbers is there's not very much room in between for everybody else! What we need here is a little latitude. -Laurie Anderson-

Po-tay-to! Po-tah-to! To-may-to! To-mah-to! Let's call the whole thing off!

Serene. If you spent more time drinkin' and less time thinkin' you wouldn't come up with stuff like this. Blink

Back-to-back they faced each other, drew their swords and shot each other!

Just seems with EVE being so big and all...and so many divergent ways of doing things....that people could find folks who do what they do like they do and we'd all be a merry community first...All for EVE and all for....some musketeer thing here...and rabid competitors with folks willing to give us game second...keep the elephants out of the salamander pool...
kinda thing. It's as though the same people messing up the world are crying about how messed up the world is.

We must accommodate the idiocracy.

OP contains several descriptions of how to play EVE...

All of them are completely wrong.

P.S. Love the Thomas Jefferson quote in your sig.

I just don't get the "Is this a troll?" bit. Great flick, though. I prefer the first rendition.
The second version was a bit ponderous.

(I don't troll forums. I do, however, try to provoke discussion about the not-so-obvious.)

I agree with the OP, only thing I will add is for me at least its not pvp or mining or w/e you enjoy, its more the grief that some players use to show how different and one sided they think the game should be but where we in r/l have police/laws/jail as a defense or reaction to griefers in every from.....

The only thing that matters at the end of the day is how you see the world around you. Does it matter that some teenager is typing at you on a computer screen? Or is it just the principle of it all:P

Technically a fruit, but it is a shame they put it in with the vegitables at the grocers.

I'm not really sure what your question is.

Why can't we all get along? If that's your question, you've answered it: Because some people don't want to. Some men just want to watch the world burn. Also, because of Falcon.
