The thing that comes to mind is:
Your VPN is used my multiple people, some of which were found botting/RMTing. And so, the crackdown on everyone using that IP.
Gather up the banned ones, make GODDAMN SURE no one was botting/RMTing (of those you're gathering) and send a mail asking if that is the case, explaining why you have a common IP but are hardly related at all, and not the same person.
For the "donations": that, 9/10, was botted money. Likely assumed to be n-th accounts in-the-making for RMTers/botters.

Yeah I'm sure CCP just loves to reduce their own income for no reason. Those guys were probably innocent.

CCP has given TianCity the exclusive right to publish EVE on the Chinese Market. Enabling/encouraging Chinese players to bypass TianCity and play on the international server would undermine that business agreement.

And overall CCP does of course have a lot more to gain from continued access to the Chinese market with the support of TianCity than from accommodating a few rogue players who want to play on TQ for whatever reasons.

So, yes, CCP has a financial interest to discourage Chinese players from playing on TQ (just like they have an interest to prevent Japanese players from bypassing Nexon).

tl;dr sucks to be you.

I have a Chinese friend who studied in Holland but now is back working in China. We used to play some other games together and when in China he has to use VPN and tunnelers or w/e they are called and still have hellish lag but at least semiplayable. I was trying to convince him to give Eve a try but now .. meh ...
This is my signature. There are many others like it, but this one is mine.  Without me, my signature is useless. Without my signature, I am useless

All i can say is "Thank God for the Great Chinese Firewall" We have enough problems with RMTers as is, we dont need 20 thousand chinese farmboys on top of it. Thank you CCP Good call.Blink

The most possible situation could be the owner of the Chinese Server bribed CCP and/or the GMs to ban IPs from china when it is possible. That's all business you know.

Do you know how VPNs work? Basically, they convince the server you are connecting to that you are elsewhere by replacing your real IP with someone else's. Every time you use one, its a new IP. If you happen to land on an IP that CCP has banned through awful luck, you get flagged as an account being accessed by a known hacker / offender, and will get added to the ban list as a result.

How many other localized and segregated bastards does eve have?

China has very strict laws and regulations regarding entertainment, such as video games.

It is essentially impossible to release a game in china without heavy modifications. For example, World of Warcraft had to remove all skeletons and replace them with tombstones, and all zombies had to be redesigned. Cultural quirks enacted into law.

It's a large, but isolated, market.

Pretty easy to just say that all players are on one of two servers/shards.

Except that is not true. Players generally have access to one shard. Depending on whether they are Chinese or not, its a different shard. The game is still built around the concept of one universe, the fact a parallel one had to be built specifically for an isolated market with special requirements is moot.

what now? why did the chinese server fail?

I'm afraid I don't see any concerted efforts to discriminate by ccp.

  - remove the cloaked from local; free intel is the real problem, not  "afk" cloaking -

Bankruptcy last I heard.

Eastern MMOs tend to be very different. It is nigh impossible for a western publisher to successfully launch in the east, and vice versa. The things westerners hate (grinding, aesthetics over functionality, microtransactions, etc) are what is expected in SE Asia.

When Chinese players get banned for problems other Chinese players have created then it is still a Chinese problem. It is collateral damage in return for the collateral damage done by the botters. If you cannot play EVE from China by other means then you just cannot play it. We only do not want the Chinese botters here and we are sorry to hear that you cannot play. However, we do not want the botters to come back. Ask the Chinese government to allow for a reliable identification of IP numbers and you will be able to play again. If you are using a service, which makes such identification impossible then this is your problem.

TL;DR: You are complaining at the wrong end.

Loss is meaningful. Therefore is the loss of meaning likewise meaningful. It is the source of all trolling.

I lost quite a lot of friends in my corp too, all of them are innocent. Dont know what on earth is CCP thinking, probabilly they just want to shrink the size of the population within this game, haha.

How would you feel if you read this just after you lost a friend because you lent him 50m and he got banned? Pretty excited heh?

Dude, if they banned people for giving 50m isk, 75% of Eve would be banned

Besides VPN, deadspace loot is one other thing that often gets people banned. I've heard about people got banned for picking up the loot in a trail account. I've seen paid account got banned because a rich tengu friend invited him into a 4/10 complex , and share with him half the loot money. Today one player reported that his paid main got banned as his trail alt warp into a deadspace for the first time. This is just getting ridiculous. Where would you go if suddenly you need to start anew, alone, but with all the frigate class ship experience your current game-play gave you, and a ton of free time? Minning in an industrial for less than 1M per hour?

Dude, no one takes a new player flying a burst and gives them half of their deadpsace loot drop. Why would anyone do this? Deadspace loot is involved in the RMT trade. I won't go into it but deaspace loot is recycled by RMT operations and is easily traced.

Dude, your friends are RMTer's, gave you an extremely bad lie about what they did, and you bought it hook, line and sinker.

Dude, get a clue.

The problem isnt CCP, the problem is your government not letting you access the rest of the world. To solve your problem change your government to one that will let you access the rest of the world and you will be able to play with the rest of the screwed up world.
