Looting plastic wrapped items?

The other day I was trying to loot a plex from a wreck that wasn't mine, I got a message saying plastic wrap needed 28000m3 of free cargo space. Was pretty confused till today I saw a post stating if your shipping high value assets you should courier contract them to yourself.

I assume items in a courier contract are all plastic wrapped and that is why the plex needed 28000m3 of cargo space is that true? How do you know how much volume a plastic wrapped item has? (Would be nice to know beforehand since you get flagged without actually stealing anything if you do not have the space)

Is there a way of telling whether or not a wreck (that doesn't belong to you) is in a courier contract/ plastic wrapped cargo? (again would be nice to know beforehand since show info on items in question give normal volume amounts)

I googled plastic wrap eve online and all I found was links to the old forums where people where trying to sell the stuff. Forum searched plastic wrap, and courier contract with 0 results... A link or any general info would be greatly appreciated, I intend to make a mini career out of pirating the people camping these wrecks.

This may or may not only apply to the person receiving the contract, but you should be able to right click on the package and break it open.

Will have to look into that but I'm thinking that would flag me also. Only viable way I can see stealing from a camped wreck is align/steal/warp in under 2-3 seconds and have enough cargo space. I was gonna use a Iteron 5 once I can equip cargo rigs should take me over 28000m3.

Only thing is I need to know for sure how much cargo space is needed since all loot is probably wrapped together, not sure if you can even loot individual items if it's plastic wrapped. was hoping for answers here before I use the trial and error method Big smile

Its not a plex its a courier package renamed to plex with 28k m3 of shuttle's or what ever in it. People use it to get you aggressed and then kill you. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dsoOhRMkDsU some people who wanted my courier package.

People will have wrecks on gates in the wrecks there will be plastic wrapped item named plex. I assume this is what you are talking about, these are not plexes though they are large items that fit in very large items people wait till someone tries to loot it at which point the person camping the wreck is able to kill the one who tried to loot it. It's similar to can flipping.

That explains alot, it's still wierd that when I looked at show info for the plex it gave me a genuine plex info tab with .01m3 volume. Can't quite wrap my brain around how plastic wrap works. It must essentially hide the volume amount and desguise the cargo as whatever you want?

Guess I should find out if plastic wrap is a ingame item and read it's description lol.

A plastic wrap is a courier contract so the courier can not see what they are hauling and can be any size if the hauler breaks it open they break the contract. Thus large collateral a lot of the time.

Ok I understand now, I often look for courier contracts but have yet to find one worth while so I didnt know about plastic wrap.

Guess I'll have to send a alt in a shuttle to see how much space is needed before I try to lift anything.

Thanks for the replies Smile
