New player mission running question

I've been running missions for over a month (other acct), but Ive yet to see ANY BLOCKADE or EXTRAVAGANZA type missions. I mean I have never got one. I do get the same 4-5 missions over and over and over though.

So my question is, does system sec status have any effect on the difficulty of missions given? I first I thought it might be related to agent standing, but my agent/corp standing is now over 6.5 and still nothing.

I believe system security level only affects the ISK rewards you get from missions, not actual missions.

What level missions you are doing? Are you using single agent or multiple agents? Maybe you have just been unlucky?

I've done level 4 missions mainly for two Gallente agents, those in Dodixie (0.9 sec level) and Fricoure (0.8 sec level) and I've got 30 different missions from those agents (doesn't include missions against other empire factions):
Angel Extravaganza, Assault, Attack of the Drones, Blockade, Buzz Kill, Cargo Delivery, Damsel In Distress, Duo of Death, Gone Berserk, Infiltrated Outposts, Intercept The Saboteurs, Massive Attack, Mordus Headhunters, Pirate Invasion, Recon 1-3, Right Hand of Zazzmatazz, Rogue Drone Harassment, Rogue Slave Trader 1-2, Score, Serpentis Extravaganza, Serpentis Spies, Silence the Informant, Smuggler Interception, Stop The Thief, Unauthorized Military Presence, Vengeance, Worlds Collide.

I don't remember how many missions I did before I got that list finished, I've now done over 150.

I have gotten Gone Berzerk, Worlds Collide, Blockade and the Repair base one any number of times in 1.0, .9 or .8 space as best I can recall. I don't think security level has anything to do with which missions are handed out - only for the amount of rewards you get for them.

The impression I have is that they are supposed to be randomly chosen.

I have also repeatedly gotten the same several missions from some agents though as well. For whatever reason some agents seem to give out certain missions. I had this one agent who gave out the Recon missions frequently but others who never gave them .

*shrug*

The thing is - that all can be explained by Randomness - as if something is truly random - it will seem to clump up like that rather than give an even distribution. Any time you see an even distribution - it is because it was NOT randomly assigned. Over time, things should average out - but they will average out in clumps - unless their is human intervention to keep that from happening.

If someone actually KNOWS how this all works - as to WHY an agent might give out a certain mission that would be nice.

Of course ... since the mission consolidation change - some, if not most, agents are much more limited in which missions they will give out as they are now supposed to only give out missions in their category, security, distribution or mining. This in turn, while giving you some certainty as to which type of mission you will get - has drastically reduced the number of agents you might get that type of mission from. Before - you could pick an agent because of their location - and get some percentage of combat missions from them - even if that wasn't their specialty. Now - you may have to fly a goodly number of jumps to get to an agent that gives out those type of missions for the Corporation you are trying to gain standings for.

I've been running everything from lv2s to lv3s. I've ran over 100 missions so far. I changed locations last night, moved 7 jumps away. Ran 4 missions and 2 of them where missions I'd never seen before. I think it might be that agents only have a limited mission pool available to them.

For the record, I *was* running missions in Amarr space, Peringman (1.0 or .9 sec), Ministry of Internal Order. Never got any of the 'hard" ones.
Moved to Nahyeen(0.7 sec) last night and while I didn't get any hard missions, I got 2 I've never seen before.
So either I was just really unlucky before, or location has something to do with it.

"extragavanza" missions are only for lvl 3 and lvl 4, so you can't get those at lvl 2. Blockade is available for all levels.

Talking about L4 missions:

When I missioned in Caldari space I got A LOT more Angel Extravaganza (and an occasional Guriustas); in Amarr space I hardly seem to get those missions. A lot more Sansha of course, more Worlds Collide missions too. Blockades I get in boths spaces, but not very often.

So it also seems to depend on what space you're in.

No, sec status does not affect that. What may be happening is you have an agent who does not offer those particular missions. Agents have a 'pool' they offer missions from, and you may have just gotten unlucky. If it continues, try a new agent.
