Hello,

I have a mac and have been trying to get on Singularity for the better portion of the day. I went here, https://forums.eveonline.com/default.aspx?g=posts&t=6345&find=unread and followed the instructions. I launched the app and it tried to connect me to Tranq, but i got the inferno login screen and it said incompatible version. So i went here, http://wiki.eveonline.com/en/wiki/Mac_Bug_Reporting and followed the instructions to configure the mac client to connect to Singularity, but when i type everything in the terminal and hit return it says "no such file or directory exists" , if i relaunch eve, it patches and the connects me to the crucible "current" version of Tranquility. this is quite frustrating, could some one tell me how to fix this? is there a step i am missing?

Thanks for your help.

That page is out of date. You still have to use the terminal, and you enter this line

/Applications/EVE\ Onlinesisi.app/Contents/MacOS/EVE\ Online /server:87.237.38.50

Make sure the "EVE\ Onlinesisi" is changed to the actual name of your singularity client. You got to have all the spaces in the right places too, as the terminal is very sensitive to them. The backslash ( \ ) character is needed before any space in a file name, its not actually part of the file name. In the above example my sisi client is actually named EVE Onlinesisi. Also, its got to be in the applications folder.

So i did as instructed, i re-installed it into my applications folder, i changed its name to Singularity.app, opened terminal and pasted in the new info and accounted for differences between our computers, i launched eve and it loads up the inferno login, but still displays tranquility and incompatible version, any ideas on what i could be doing wrong? do i need to type open before everything in the terminal ?

thanks for your help.

EDIT:

So i have it launching from the terminal, but after it patches it will have the Inferno login, but still shows it trying to connect to tranquility, and that it is an incompatible version, if i try to relaunch it, it patches to crucible and connects to tranquility just fine. Still no connection to SiSi. please help.

thanks.

I had assumed you had modified the config file. Have you? Its located in

/users/(your name)/Library/Application support/EVE Onlinesisi

Where (your name) is the name of your home folder on your computer (The one with the little house icon).

It needs to be edited with a basic text editor to have

[AppDefaults\\EVE.exe\\transgaming]
"cmdlineadd" = "/server:87.237.38.50"

at the bottom.

The /Library folder can be hidden if you got OSX 10.7.3. To unhide it, open the terminal and enter

chflags nohidden /users/(your name)/Library

Edit: I just tried my sisi build, and it downloaded a new version that does not seem to need the modified config file. In fact it used the "EVE Online" folder in Application support. It ran fine and found Sisi.

That said, Im not completely sure what the steps are right now for creating a new sisi build from scratch. CCP may be changing things to make it easier for us Mac users, and until they are done, it will be hard to give a definitive answer that will not become out of date in just a few days. But keep trying all the methods. Thats all I did, and eventually hit the right combination.

Ok, i think we are one step closer to getting it to work, now when i launch it, the server is Singularity but the version is still incompatible, there was an update that i downloaded but it doesn't auto install. so when i launch the SiSi client, it says

"The update has been downloaded. The client will now close and the update process begin.

Press 'OK' to continue."

i click ok and the client closes but no update installs.

any ideas?

btw thanks so so much for your help thus far.

Ive had that non-update bug and never found a way to un-stick it. Ive had to go back and start the sisi client build process all over from the start.

Exactly the same as me, except I don't get the Inferno login screen, I still get the Crucible login screen..!!

open/Applications/Singularity.app/Contents/MacOS/EVE\ Online /server:87.237.38.50
Is that the right thing to put into the terminal?

Edit: Found my mistake, but now it says "The file /server:87.237.38.50 does not exist"

Try

/Applications/Singularity.app/Contents/MacOS/EVE\ Online /server:87.237.38.50

That is, without the open.

So I was on Sisi on friday, then today tried to hop on to look at the new build and after the launcher updated I got the incompatible build message but when that goes to update (and now when I launch the damn thing) I get a message saying "The server you are connecting to doesn't have a published update package"

What the hell does that mean? I'm guessing it means "CCP didn't do a Mac build but hey I't CCP and Mac what did you expect"

Yeah, that happens. They make a new version then find out that for some reason the Mac version does not work. Rather than delay putting the PC one out until the Mac one gets fixed, they release the PC version, and get locked out of the test server. I suspect they made a change that Cider did not like, and Transgaming has not gotten back to CCP to resolve the issue.

Sometimes its an different issue, one with just the patch, but not the actual build. In those cases downloading the full client may get you a working version
