Elite PVP means you have a "." after your alliance or corp name, confirm/deny?

Good question:

Elitist PvP - to me is when a group has SP requirements and cry like babies, then corp kick when you lose a ship or twenty.

What's wrong with skill requirements and kicking people out if they're hardheaded and refuse to learn from mistakes?

Kicking people who are always stubborn is ok - But kicking because they have been unlucky enough to run into a few blobs isn't cool.

As for SP requirements - their importance is overstated as I discovered when I started a new toon.
I had an idea of what I wanted the new toon to be and I was surprised that it became very useful with under 2mil SP.

Almost have it at 3mil SP now, in a Drake with T2 HAMS only a day away, It's really only 5-10% less effective than my main which has over 43mil SP.

The biggest problem with SP requirements is that a 30mil SP toon could be all Industry and still only have rockets trained to 1.
That toon would be acceptable and a dedicated PvP toon with 5 mil SP would not be acceptable.

On top of that, the elitist attitude is detrimental to the EvE community as it is too harsh on newer players.
Sometimes it's difficult to have perspective when you have played for a few years so we forget that older eve players generally come across as being a bunch of ******** arsehats in the eyes of a new player. Elitist attitudes compound this problem leaving New Eden much emptier than it should be.

Not always, if I encounter too elitist players I want to go out and kill them. :)

Elitist PVP almost always does not last because if your corp/alliance has super high standards, your numbers will be low.
Low number of members means it is easy for corp to become inactive or defunct or chased out of nullsec by larger entities with lower recruiting standards.

For wh space, having the normal PvP skills just isn't enough. If you can't scan/fly cloaky ships, you are more or less useless.

Err, can someone remind me if it's the number keys or the f-keys that makes my guns shoot?

*EDIT* Follow up to that, how do I fit guns to my ship? Mail me in-game, much appreciated.

While its good to put things in perspective and try to remember that you were once a new player too, its not really fair to expect everyone to want to be a teacher. Likewise, complaining that some groups want to have higher standards than others is just bad as higher standard groups looking down on groups that accept anyone. Its like complaining that professional sports teams are elitist because they won't let just anyone join them. EVE is a game and its closeminded to expect people to play the game in a manner that doesn't maximize the fun they have while playing it.

A lot of people seem to forget that there are different styles of game play and very rarely are groups good at all of them at the same time. You can be amazing in nullsec, but be terrible in wormholes. You can be amazing in small gang situations, but be a terrible solo pilot.

Ultimately, I think the only time elitist PVP occurs in EVE under the negative connotation that the people in this thread seem to be trying to define is when you spend more time talking about how awesome you are than actually playing the game.

Elitist pvp is when you eject from a drake that is pointed and about to die because you don't want to hurt your isk efficiency.
