Kill Mail Question

Last night I baited a Proteus in low-sec in my Cyclone. I was on a gate to high-sec and my corpmate was on the other side in his Ferox. He red boxed me so my corpmate came to assist. We got the Proteus to structure but he had de-aggressed and went into high-sec with GCC and was promptly concorded. We still got all his nice loot and a wealth of tears but I'm wondering:

Will his loss mail show up on any killboard eventually? (ie Concord KB or his own)

How long does it take?

Is there any other way of getting kill mails when you can't achieve a final blow?

Killmails should show up pretty much instantly for whoever got the last hit. But, IIRC, the KM status might be cleared when someone jumps from one system to another.

About all you can do is look on KBs and see if you can see his loss somewhere by searching for his name.

Do they even send a mail to anyone other than the person that lands the killing blow these days? Because if they don't you're relying on your target's API being synched to the same KB site you use, which may not be the case.

There is always a loss on the pilot's API, but many sites reject losses to NPC with the final blow.

As someone who regularly kills big ships because they're dumb enough to aggro my frigates in range of gate/station guns... Yes, they do send the mails out.

Also if there was only you, your buddy and corde in the kill then either your or your friend have the KM.
If neither of you have the mail, you should post a bug report for clarification of what happened to the mail in the process.

Pretty sure aggression clears when you jump systems.

Correct. It will show as an NPC kill. If he has not got his API in a kb, it will never show unless he manually posts it or someone whored it on the other side of that gate.

We had to wait our minute so he was just sitting there in his pod when we arrived for the loot. Haven't seen the KM on Battleclinic or Eve-Kill anywhere. No big deal, the loot was tasty. Hopefully Inferno streamlines the KM situation.

Just emphasising the actual true answer, if a target jumps it clears the aggression list for the killmail so the only ones on that killmail will be the ones who aggressed it in the system he died in, thus in this case it's a concord kill and doesn't get shown on most killboards.

EVE-kill accepts manually posted NPC kills.

Yet, if none of the 2 guys have the killmail it will likely never show up on EVE-kill as the guy in the proteus isn't going to post his loss manually and AFAIK NPC don't post manuallyP

Yeah, don't think the guy would post his lossmail either Lol
Just thought I'd mention the possibility.

Just in case neither of you know where to find your killmails..
Open character sheet - combat log - kills

If you have a kill there on the guy, open the killmail copy it all and post it here http://eve-kill.net/?a=post
That will make it show on killboards.

Jumping through a gate causes a session change which clears all of the involved parties from the killmail.

Fully aware of how that works, thanks though.

Confirming this on Battleclinic and Eve-Kill. Concord seems to update final blows of their own but only if other player characters are on it. This seems to be the case here X

edit: due to him jumping systems and clearing the KM
