Yes, we're still here, despite multiple attempts to kill us off.

Have a read, it gives a bit of insight into what really happened over the last 2 years.

Love us or hate us, we have a long history which isn't finished yet.

So... is this thread an ad for EON, ad for pilot/corp recruitment, "look at us, our alliance is awesome", devoid of content, or all of the above?

As an ex-Ushra'Khan pilot who may be interested in talking about things, but who does not have an EON subscription, can someone actually give me something to talk about? Ed: a synopsis? Something?

So, is GD the new place to blurf about how SUPERTOTALLYAWESOME your corp/alliance is?

As a general rule I find that corps and alliances that feel the need to spam local with recruitment ads to be terrible and full of bads. Seeing terrible recruitment spam in GD from one of the oldest alliances in EVE is...Depressing.

We didn't ask for the article, and we didn't write it.

We can however use it as a marketing tool. If it wasn't for a magazine article, I would never have started playing Eve.

I don't care about the article because I don't subscribe to EON. Articles in EON without any links, synopsis or other useful information do not deserve GD threads.

This thread is nothing more than you attempting to pimp your alliance. It would be a shitpost by CAOD standards.

Well as a relatively new member of U'K, I can still see Philpip's topic as valid. With all the negative press that befalls every Alliance in Eve at some point in time, wouldn't you want notice served in writting from an outside party?
There is alot of history in U'K and so it should be up to someone to set the record straight.

I think Phil did say "Also some shameless links to our recruitment threads" Opportunity knocks--open the door. yeah, no brainer there.. There was no reference of "look at us, our alliance is awesome" or "SUPERTOTALLYAWESOME"
What is exceptable in "General Discussion"? So personaly I don't see it as an ad for anything other then General Discussion.

Props to U'K for STILL being one of the oldest alliances in EVE after pulling through near catastrophe. The article in EON is titled The Fall & Rise of... Read it before casting judgement or as Mark Twain puts it "It is better to keep your mouth closed and let people think you are a fool than to open it and remove all doubt"

General discussion is for discussion for the general public. Not the select number who have EON subscriptions; not for "shameless recruitment ads" (there's another subforum for that); not for circlejerking about your "history". Posting a thread discussins an EON article in here is akin to my posting a thread about how riveting a thread on U'K private forums is. It's just not appropriate.

U'K's history is indeed long and rich, but their current endeavors of distancing themselves from RP and the old roaming spirit, settling down into the clusterfuck that is 0.0 politics, and becoming yet another wannabe small spaceholding alliance/pet insults the whole concept of U'K's "history". As is now, "We come for our people" is simply a lie, and going around touting U'K because of its history is, frankly, just sad.

Joined U'K 2-3 weeks after I joined Eve. Stuck with them for two years. Left saddened at what they have become.
