In case people haven't seen it yet:

My Guide to Wormhole Colours, featuring images of all w-space connections to aid visual identification of the class of the destination system.

And once you can identify a wormhole's destination just by looking at it, you can use my Matrix of Wormhole Designations to work out what type of wormhole you're looking at when you're floating next to a K162. Not terribly useful, but a missing link for most lists of wormhole types.

Great reference guide to get people up to operating speed. A+ would reference again.

Yeah I was already aware of these differences but generally have trouble explaining it to other people. Great guide to give my newer guys when they start doing the probing.

Thanks!

Good for newer WHers

What's really needed though is a guide that lets you know what region your LS/NS/HS connect leads to.

Very nice, thank you ... also good for veteran w-spacers who've never really bothered to memorise that info.

I guess I am almost a 'vet' by now. Hopefully not too bitter and managing to help more than I hinder. I build and sell many things, including large collections of bookmarks.

Fantastic stuff. The C1 -> C6 link sort of looks like HAL's eye staring at you. It should give you an idea of the increase in danger level!

Also, by looking at wormholes that lead to known space, you can take a good guess at the region by the image of the reflected nebula.

Knowing the different colours of wormholes in invaluable when creating bookmarks.

Only thing that is missing from this guide is high-sec wormhole colours. Since the introduction of nebulas, a high-sec wormhole will display the nebula that is visable in the system it leads to. This allows you to know which region of empire the wormhole is in without jumping through.

Usualy:

Minmitar is Orange/red
Gallente is Black/green
Amarr is Golden/Bright blue or Black/Darkgreen
Caldari is White/Black or Black

Although this has limited usfulness, if your scanning down a system and havn't finished you can tell a fellow corpmate which region they should be heading to so that we can finish scanning before jumping out.

confirming that you should learn to recognize wormholes without the guide asap. especially in high class wormholes. c1 and 2 are kinda hard to tell apart, the rest are easy to tell apart

The C1 is fairly distinctive, basically if the wormhole is blue and has any green around the edge, then its a C1. The C2 holes are entirely blue.

Regarding the connections to k-space, you can with practise actually tell the region into which the wormhole is connecting. The wormhole basically rlenses through to the nebula of the other side.

Domain is easiest (and as Khanh'rhh says, all wormholes lead to Domain), as are Minnie regions being basically reddy-orange-black. Khanid is also very distinctive, as are Forge wormholes, being a uniform blue-grey.

You can tell your nullsec regions with a bit of work, I would think, based on the fact the nebulae are smaller and/or twinned.

I have trouble with Galente regions, and a lot of the nullsec nebulae are unfamiliar to me, so I've got a bit of work to do to gain my Black belt in K-Space Identification.

But the take-home here is that those of us who are, eg, hated by the faction poleese should put in the effort of knowing what the k-space nebulae of their foes are so they don't have to jump out and get a bunch of NPC rats harassing them.

Right. Wormhole colours really are something w-spacers should get up to speed with, but it can be difficult and occasionally frustrating to have to explain the differences to every new pilot.

My guide shows visually what each colour wormhole means, without needing to continually ask someone or find a wormhole connecting to every class of w-space first.

I have begun a project, which is very OCD of me I admit, to screencap all K-space regons from C2's and C3's. I'll pooblish it here when I'm done.
