The video on planetary interaction from the evelopedia is perfectly clear but it kinda leaves the last part a bit unexplained, im talking about Spaceport Launchpads, the video made me understand that instead of launching into space and picking it up with your ship you could launch it directly to the orbiting station of that planet you are doing planetary interaction in, correct me if wrong, however i have some doubts:

1- Do Spaceport Launchpads launch automatically to the orbiting station once they are full?

2-Why dont i see any launch option when in my Gas Launchpad facility, all i see is a transfer button, so is this how it works? the Launchpad only works as a secondary storage silo?

3-What happens if you Planet interact with a planet that has no orbiting station and still you build a spaceport launchpad? what will the launchpad do then, it will just sit there as second silo and nothing more, where is the launch button lol xD (shouldnt my harvested materials show in my assets of the nearby orbiting station once i transfer them using my gas launchpad spaceport?)

4-They tell me in the help channel that planetary interaction is more for sovereignity does this mean that its main use is for sovereignity PvP like in 0.0 does it make much sence to do it in high sec?

5-Should a new player worry about planetary interaction will it give good passive money at the end? or is this intented for older players with tons of skill points.

That is all :)
Thank you

1. No, you have to manually launch (transfer) stuff to the Costum Office. And to do that you have to be in space in the system your planet is in.

2. Transfer is launching things to the Costum Office. You can launch items from your command centre into space or you can use a launchpad to transfer them to the custom office. The latter one has the benefit as it also let's you import stuff from the custom office to your planet.

3. All high-sec planets have NPC custom offices on them. In low-sec / null-sec or W-space the NPC Custom Offices can be shot down and PoCo's can be set up (Player Owned Custom Offices). You will rarely see a planet that doesn't have a custom office on it (be it the NPC or a PoCo).

4. They mean that P.I. is mainly used in 0.0 and only because it's one of the major part of POS fuelblocks. Also as with almost all of EVE, higher risk means higher rewards, so 0.0 / W-space planets usually are better for P.I. then empire ones (higher yield). This doesn't mean that empire can't be used for P.I. but keep in mind the planets aren't as good as in 0.0 and you will be competing (sharing the resources on the planet) with a lot of other players, while in 0.0 the people using the planets usually is far less.

5. P.I. is 'easy' acces. It doesn't require a shitload of skills to start with but don't be surprised when you don't make a huge amount of ISK from your planets initially.

This is the part that confuses me, so the custom office is part of the planet itself so it does what i wrote above its just like another silo in the planet to store things, the custom office is always on land if you want to launch something into space you will always have to use the command center and go pick up the stuff with your ship later, correct? The Spaceport Launchpad doesnt lauch stuff directly into the Item hangar of the orbiting station like i thought it would or like the tutorial video makes you believe it does.

Thanks

No, actually I never used the command center to launch stuff as it isn't secure and cost more to launch items
You're wrong, it does launch straight into the items hangar of the custom office. Likely you are doing something wrong without noticing.

The custom office is used as a storage and collection point.

So you produce stuff on the planet.
You store them in the launchpad
You transfer (launch) them from the launchpad to the custom office.
You collect your items from the custom office.

And yes you can use them as a storage facility, but keep in mind that exporting/importing stuff from/to the planet cost taxes.

If you have a launchpad, there is no need to launch stuff using the command center.

Look more detailed on tutorials online as this is also already explained in a lot of them:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nz3EDVh2X9g (explains the changes that were made lately)

You can launch a small cargo directly into space using the command center and pick it up in space. This is generally only useful if you are running a really small operation.
You can transfer as much as you want from your launchpad to a Customs Office in orbit (if one exists outside highsec).

EDIT : Note that the Evelopedia entries are out of date concerning setting up and running a base. Almost all guides are based on the 1.0 or 1.1 version. We're running 1.2 with dynamic resources. Basically everything about extractors is different these days.
You can find updated into about how that works here.

Ah haha here is my confusion i was thinking that the custom office item hangar was the same as the item hangar of a station they are two different things therefore i was thinking that you could send your items directly to the item hangar of the orbiting station but no, each planet in high sec has an orbiting custom office that you need to warp to and collect from.

thanks, hope this helps others!!
