Can Flipped

Hi All

Quick question

I got can flipped in 0.7 space

I didn't retaliate just flew my Osprey back to my local station.

I waited around 5 mins then took my mammoth back to the belt. Can flipper was no longer there so I quickly filled up my ship and went back to the station to unload.

I am a target now for the 15 minute countdown.

Am I safe thereafter?

Cheers

Yes. You took their ore, so have a 15 minute timer in which they can shoot you. After that, you should be okay.

Yes, once the 15 minute cooldown timer is over you can no longer be attacked by that pilot without him inviting CONCORD retribution (I hesitate to use the phrase "safe" due to the prevalence of suicide gankers, but safe-er anyhow).

Actually it depends from which can wich can you took stuff from:

1.) You took stuff from your own container (white colour) = you are perfectly safe, you can shoot the can flipper for 15 minutes, but they can only shoot back once you shoot them (self defence)

2.) You took stuff from their container (yellow colour) = they can now shoot your ship (only ship, not pod) for 15 minutes.

3.) You took stuff from a FFA container (blue colour) = see post 1.

Um, he says he got the countdown, so neither 1 nor 3 apply.

Actually, when someone canflips you a 15 minute yellow countdown starts on top of the screen IIRC, when hovering over you will see who stole from you.

And beside that it's also possible that rats shot him, giving him the normal yellow countdown for rat aggro.

Just to clarify I went back and took the Ore from my can he originally flipped, meaning as I understand it, I was now flagged red

Just to make sure there's no misunderstanding about how this works ...

When someone "flips" your can - what they do - is to drop a can of their own - then drag your stuff into it - upon which your can pops because it has been emptied. Jet cans all pop (and go away) if they are emptied.

Thus - once they take your stuff - your can is gone. So there is no going back to "your" can. The can that is there - containing what was formerly your stuff - is theirs. it is because it is their can - that YOU will be flagged if you take what was your ore back.

They stole from your can - and got flagged.

You steal from their can - and you get flagged too.

The only way that your can would still be there - is if they didn't take all of what was in it, which I can't imagine them doing as they'd have to hold down the shift key while they did the drag and then enter the amount they were taking.

Quite, many miners have this weird idea that can flippers drop something into their can (which is impossible) and it thus changes ownership, this is one of those myths told by older players that just doesn't die.

Excellence is not a skill, it's an attitude.
