So I tried to log on today. Got the message that I needed to d/l a patch, it downloads, click the OK button to begin the patching process... Nada.

OK, Plan B: d/l complete client (in an hour and a half) click on .dmg and... Not recognized.

BTW, I never get a launcher. My game always goes straight to the login screen. I found the Update Launcher app in the cache, but it just opens and immediately closes without doing anything.

So what should I try next?

Edit: The second after I post this, I clicked on the Eve icon in my dock one more time for the hell of it... It launched the launcher which is busily patching to a new build. Go figure.

Esentially I'm stuck with multiple clients, but can only run one instance (and they won't honor the changes to pref file as they did yesterday)

Any tips???

Same problem as Lord Douchebag (and so many others of you). Have tried Eve Clonemaker as well - thought it worked, got both clients running but when I undocked my primary clients screen continued to show the station's interior even though I was in space. Changing the games window dimensions temporarily fix this but only for a moment before it froze.

When I asked in the Help channel they told me to raise it here but I'm guessing we still have no fix in sight.

Anyone got a fix or an ETA on when a 'reliable' patch may be released?

Test post. I keep getting redirected tot he "WE WERE GANKED" error page when I try to post. Will replace this post with actual helpful advice as soon as I stop getting the forum error message.

[edit] Okay, here we go.

Okay, for multiple Mac clients, I think i have a workaround.

1) For each of your clients, launch it as normal and have it patch to the current version. When it says the "Client is Ready", quit the Launcher.
2) Find your EVE Online client, show package contents. Find the EVE Online in your EVE Online, show package contents. Find the info.plist and open that with TextEdit.
3) As usual, find CFBundleName and PrefsFolderName and change their strings to, oh, let's say "EVE Online TQ1" or whatever number you want to designate. Save info.plist
4) Do not launch the EVE Online client as usual. Instead, select your EVE Online client, show package contents (you might still have this window open from step 1, above), and launch the EVE Online that's inside your EVE Online. This bypasses the Launcher.

Do this for each EVE Online client you have.
[/edit]

[edit #2] Also, in other news, do not try to include {key} and {/key} (with < and > symbols) in your post, as this seems to throw the error message. [/edit #2]

I fired up the launcher, it patched and I clicked the Play button.
Launcher closed (this is new) and nothing happened.
Tried it again, and again, and again.

Tried the above trick to get a new prefs folder, nothing happened.
As of now my Mac cannot connect.

Exactly same issue here. Today's patch has broken multiple client support for me.

Launch the "launcher" then before clicking on PLAY... go change the info.plist then click on PLAY... worked for me after several tries... once again thanks CCP.

Ah, by the way... the funniest thing... you have to do it at every launch.... if you leave Eve and come back... you have to re-do...

And guess what... the separators problem is still there..... I'M BORED !!!!!!! so actually, I have 10 ISK in Wallet, there are 30 players in EvE etc...

I will claim a salary as a beta tester... oh no, i'm stupid enough to pay to test....

None of them test their "updates" before implement it ??????????????????

One more day, one more patch, still same joke !!!

launcher problem with info.plist file.... separators problems with number...

and still no devs to give a kind of communication !

... ******* pissed of by this bunch of amateurs !!!

one more day... still same *****.. and still no communications from devs...
maybe if rude, they will, at least... warn me !!!!

Please know, that mac version is made by CCP and Transgaming. Mac version is just Windows client wrapped into Transgaming Cider wrapper (based on Wine code). It's a lot harder to find the error on this environment, when you must identify what and on whose side it went wrong. Let the Devs breathe a little. They already are putting support that is not seen in any other game/company.

And to fix problems there are workarounds, i know they are quite limitting, but you will get results.
Separator problem - switch system to english
Ingame freezes - turn off torrent client
Multiple clients - make a duplicates of eve online

So what ??? So I can propose a product I can't manage and ask money for it ?
As a customer, i don't care if it's wrapped via Cider etc... they propose a service, i pay for it.. and i don't get it.
do you think it's normal to pay full price to be kind of beta tester, searching some workaround to be able to use the product etc.. you're the perfect client !

i'm just disappointed because workarounds are only given by users... not Devs... they seems ...to be mute.

about workaroud....
great... but i don't want to switch system for something else than my own language
i don't use t orrent client or whatever while i play eve...

Hi

I seem to have a totally different issue. For me, the patching on the MAC went OK and the client started as expected.

However, all was not good as my wallet currently displays 224 ISK... You could say I should save more and not spend it all, but the reality is that the wallet should contain some 224 million ISK.

It is not only the wallet that is affected. When viewing the market everything seems to have much better prices today than yesterday. A drake, for instance seems to be mine for only 52 ISK in Jita right now. An Oraca is just a tad over 700 ISK.
Contracts are also very cheap today it seems, but they do show some duality - a 54 ISK contract for a Drake for some reason shows the amount 54 million in parentheses.

Here is a screenshot taken just now:
Screenshot

Quite obviously the problem here is that the GUI is showing only the first digits of the number, that is, the digits before the first thousandseparator. Checked on a couple of other accounts and the result is the same.

I´m running Lion on a 2011 Mac Book Pro 15", but more specific I would guess is the fact that this MAC is running with Norwegian localization and in the Norwegian standard the thousandseparator is a . (period). Guess that f**ed it up...

Hope you can patch this rather quick because trade is kind of hazardious at the moment... Ugh

I am experiencing the exact same thing. have been browsing the web looking for this issue without any luck. The interesting thing is that I am a norwegian user as well, so the thousand- separator theory sounds like a probable cause.
And I am using Mac...

EDIT: The online players count in the log-in screen has this issue as well. Showing only 32 players instead of 32- thousand something.

Thank you for reporting this - we also received some bug reports for that issue and are now investigating the problem. Are you experiencing this issue on the English client or a localized version?

I Can't believe this have not been fixed yet!!!! Excuse me if I sound harsh, but I feel like I'm paying for three account and getting nothing!! And that make me feel like a stupid!!!

Is this what we should expect???

I have sent THREE petitions to them about the unhandled page fault problem with Eve played on my Mac. Each time I have been told that they are working on it, with no hint as to when it might be fixed. This has literally been going on for MONTHS, and I keep waiting around thinking "oh, well they're working on it, so the next patch should fix it", and each patch just makes it freeze more and more. I figured I'd stick it out until Inferno because it seemed like it made sense that it would be fixed in an entire new version... but literally five seconds after I start the game with Inferno installed, whelp........ unhandled page fault, game freezes, have to restart it.

The last reply I got was pissy and all "you know, if this was an easy problem to fix, it would be fixed by now, it is complicated and takes a lot of time", which I find almost insulting. It isn't free to have this game, and yet all I've been able to do is stay in nine sec for months, and when I am up to dealing with it freezing every ten minutes or so, I'll mine for a while. I haven't been able to do anything else. So basically they have gotten nearly a hundred dollars from me at this point, or more, for absolutely nothing in return.

If you're going to say you support Mac users, you should care about fixing known problems that a lot of mac users are having, or if you don't care, then just say so, drop your mac support, and only deal with windows customers. Oh wait, then you wouldn't be getting all the extra money we give you for no customer service in return. yay.

yes Ive tried deleting the preferences folder several times, it doesn't fix this

I do not think it appropriate that your usually unsuccessful workarounds entail digging deep into setup files and rewriting things your programmers should not have gotten wrong in the first place.

I pay money to play EVE ..... not to spend hours pretending to be a computer wiz ready to troubleshoot problems and give high end solutions to get the game to operate.

Please give me a fair return for my subscription fee ..... a game that operates, patches that do not load corrupted files, and customer support that actually gives a damn about Mac users ..... right now you are zero for 3.

I the paying customer cannot login and have to reinstall the game from scratch HOPING that will at least let me log on so i can get back to have system freezes every five minutes .... the good old days compared to now ..... because the installer on the patch was a total fail.

Ok so I got the error that many people got in the beginning. Since my training queue was almost done (yes I know it was stupid of me), I scrapped the client and spent the next 4 hours downloading the full client. It worked just fine. Smile
Now there's a second (small) patch out. Shocked Except it won't patch. Roll The client downloads it and says ready to update, but nothing happens. What? I've tried several times without success. Ugh I am NOT going to download the full client again!
Fix this please CCP, damnit, it's what we pay you for! You don't want to lose subs do you? There should be a full dev team devoted to mac, and if you can't spare the man power, get more please! Sad

I'm a software developer too... I'm familiar with dealing with hard to find software bugs, I'm familiar with users critiques, and even bad ones!!! But, over all this, I know that when you choose a particular framework to develop your software with, you have to deal with its particularities and that users have NOTHING to do with YOUR PROBLEMS as a developer... You get it?? So, please, don't tell anyone to be kind because of the particular framework they choose... They had to evaluate this class of problems when they choose to go with Cider and, if anything, we could talk about TransGaming (lack of) support to CPP in solving this class of problems... If CPP have a big software project using TransGaming tools and framework, they should ask for support when problems like this arose... So... May be CPP should look for TransGaming help if this is the problem... but end users should not need not be aware of, or need to care about that kind of issues... We just want / need / deserve a working service. So, I hope you don't give this as an argument again in the future. Period.

And let's not talk about the workarounds...

Running a MacBook Pro.
2.3 GHz Intel Core i5 processor, 4GB ram.

EVE worked fine when I had it on here last year.
Had to delete the client to make way for HD video I shot when I was on the road doing work.

Renewed my account with my hard earned money, and I get this utter slap in the face.

10-20 download attempts, none work. On multiple networks. Errors out before I hit 2.5 gigs.

No support anywhere for someone who doesn't understand computers in their entirety.
In fact, I don't see many devs here, if at all, posting help. Or even the BS 'an update is coming, everything will be fine'.
Just nothing.

This had better be fixed by the time Inferno drops.
I know you guys are probably busy adding all sorts of cool effects and whatnot, but A LARGE PERCENTAGE OF YOUR PAYING PLAYERS CANNOT LOG IN/UPDATE/DOWNLOAD THE FREAKING CLIENT. AND WE'RE BEING CHARGED MONEY FOR TIME WE CANNOT USE.

I really either want a refund/additional time for the days and sleepless nights of paid game time i've put into trying to make this client work.

Can the mac users get a little attention from TECH SUPPORT?

FIX. THIS.

For God's sake, implement an installer through a launcher, I hate having my install corrupted (incidentally, the repair tool was worthless) and spending a week trying to download a 5.5 gig client through a slow connection that takes 7 hours. Maybe you could stop tweaking high end content for PvP nerds long enough to make simply installing the game something that doesn't make me want to claw my eyes out?

World of Warcraft has this feature.
Warhammer Online has this feature.
Diablo III has this feature.

So why the hell can't I install the EVE launcher and download the client through there with periodic interruptions? Set it up so I don't have to download a single 5.5 gig file in one sitting. This is ridiculous; you don't even have a torrent distribution of the client that I can find.

Well, I give up. Fortunately this is all occurring right at the end of a month for me, so I just froze my account. It's unfortunate because I was really enjoying playing, but apparently installing EVE Online on a Mac is completely unfeasible without a high speed internet connection. The every day use of my computer precludes me just letting it sit for an entire day to download an enormous .dmg that cannot be interrupted or disturbed. I'll resubscribe when/if I ever manage to get the client reinstalled, but really, CCP needs to understand that the lack of support for the Mac client made it impossible for me to play.

If the Mac had an option to install via a downloaded launcher, like the Windows version, this wouldn't be an issue.
If I could torrent the client, like the Windows version, this wouldn't be an issue.
Heck, I'd settle for downloading the client chunked into payloads, which is an option for Windows but not for Mac.

What can I say? I loath this situation, but the single distribution approach of CCP for Macs: start a 5.5 gigabyte download on this .dmg and pray to God your internet doesn't flicker or your computer do anything unexpected over the course of the next ~8-9 hours doesn't work.
