Drone damage mod effects on PVE setups

Navy Dominix the new top tier PVE battleship?
Gila / Ishtar exploration boost?
Carriers ratting with full sentry gank?
Fleet Typhoon and Navy Scorpion out ganking CNR by a large margin?

These changes are looking fairly interesting, can't wait to see the finalized mod and slot. I'm hoping it's highslot - otherwise it will be severely overpowered. Would not mind too much as I invested most of my isk in the aforementioned droneboats earlier :)

Edit: As a friendly suggestion, look tight into investing in Ishtars / navy domis / gilas ^^

I wonder how much increase in dps that it will give to drones, because weapon mods increase damage and Rate of Fire.

So will drones get an increase in Damage and ROF as well?

I'm thinking a Navy Dominix or Dominix with following:

lowslots 3x faction magstab, 3x drone damage mod, tracking enhancer II
midslots: 2x omni tracklink, shield tank
highslots: 425mm rail II's, javelin for close spawn rooms, cnam for rest
gardes

Might push 1400+ dps to 50km.

I'm currently ticking 35-40M / 20min on a ring sanctum slaughtering Thanatos with only carrier IV. I'm expecting better numbers with any carrier if it's a lowslot drone damage mod. Prehaps 5x drone control unit, 3x omni tracklink, 1-2 sebo, 4x drone damage low (or 2x DCU - 3x damage mod if high).

Gardes on a carrier push 990dps at 50km currently; damage lows if in line with other weapons would hop that to 1600-ish?

What do you guys think this does for the potential of the Rattlesnake? Perhaps a reason to use one in PVE beyond super lazy tanking?

I agree that a highslot drone damage mod would probably be the easiest to squeeze into most drone ship setups without disrupting utility. Mid or low slot would force much more interesting choices.

Rattler has definitely potential to go above 1B (inflation and ability to run 10/10's steadily solo, faster in the future). Not as good as the dominixes for low incoming damage pve - unless the drone mod is highslot. Just my guess from a couple months back.

Do note: the drone damage mod does not affect fighters or fighter/bombers.

I doubt you will see any of these mods on phoons. You are either fitting gyros to pump up your ACs or bcu to pump up your missiles. Will be interesting to see if a stacking penalized third damage mod would have less desireability than one of these or a damage mod to your secondary high slot weaponry.

As for Domis and Ishtars, Gila and Rattlers, it would remain to be seen how the fitting stats meld. CPU on any Gallente ship is always a consideration. And even if you fit one of the new cpu rigs you are doing so at the loss of another flow slot mod you used to use and a rig slot that used to be filled with something else.

We simply won't know the possibilities til they've been on the test server for a little while and someone either posts holy **** look what you can in fact do, or there is a collective response of nice but meh. Hopefully CCP will be monitoring the feedback on tinkering and be willling to adjust things in response if things look ridiculous before putting it live on tranquility.

It is actually more interesting to allow drone boats to use different slot choices/fitting approaches than non-drone boats. Forcing the non-drone boat mold is rather uninteresting and also gimps drone boats to work less effectively. I never opt for gimping something simply because a few may worry. I mean, what other kind of ship can simply have their weapons destroyed out from under them? So let them use high slots for their drone modules.

I think this will mean nueting/nos drone boats will be even more feasible because they'll be able to put out significant dps and still have room to cap warfare their opponents.

Some current numbers from Sisi:

Extrinsic Damage Amplifier I:
Low Slot
35 CPU
1 Power Grid
9% (Presumably damage bonus, but the field is blank)

Prereqs:
Weapon Upgrades 1
Drones 1


Extrinsic Damage Amplifier II:
Low Slot
40 CPU
1 Power Grid
12%

Prereqs:
Weapon Upgrades 4
Drones 4

So, in summary, skilling for them should be easy, no harder than current damage mods. The CPU/grid use is in keeping with the current damage mods. Still low slot modules.

Edit: also, they're not seeded on the market yet either, so no testing yet.

Gonna be a ***** to fit those on the Ishtar. It does appear that they are better than the T1 Sentry Damage Augmentor rigs, which they presumably stack with. Gonna make for some interesting choices.

CCP should add more NPC 0.0 space to open it up and liven things up: the Stepping Stones project.

Well, less CPU use than the sentry rigs, but also less damage (and FAR less damage than other weapon mods). Check out this thread in the test server forums for the feedback we have going ATM.

Should be a mid slot since gallente drone boats have plenty of them. If you put it into high that would be a bad joke since galls have no utility highs up to T2.

Also it's interesting how much CPU those would require. Vexor and Ishtar have an abyssmal value and better be buffed to fit them.
