Steam Overlay Issue for Steam Purchasers

It's been weeks without word on this. I understand there's a workaround for those users who added their Eve to Steam manually, but for those of us that bought our first copy of Eve through Steam, WE STILL CAN'T USE THE STEAM OVERLAY. Evil

Not hearing anything for weeks is frustrating. Is there a fix for this? Pretty please CCP?

No fix, but it is a known issue. If you have details on a workaround, I would be interested in reading whatever information you have to hand.

Add the EVEFile.exe as a "None Steam Game" you can find it in the C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\eve online\bin
You will still need to run the "EVE Launcher" whenever there is an update

Thanks nVus, I'll give that a go, but am a little concerned about the updates. If I add a 'new' Eve shortcut to my Steam Library in the way you describe (I guess I could finally call the new one 'Inferno' instead of Incarna, lol), and there is a client update, will it still patch the client? How will I know if there's a launcher patch - I guess the client just won't work?


Thanks also for the confirmation Atropos, hope nVus's suggestion is useful and really hope you find a proper fix for this soon, it's a shame to lose all that additional functionality. Roll

Within steam, you can R-Click each EVE online and the EVEFile.exe and make each one a desktop shortcut. From your Desktop you can just click the EVE online shortcut that will just launch the EVE online Launcher as is to do its updates and once complet close it n click the other Icon you made of the EVEFile.exe that can run the Steam Overlay IGB/Chat/Screen Capture Apps
