Location of the Capsule in CQ

The new CQs on SiSi are looking great, and are well worth the wait. However the location of the capsule in all four is stupid.

It makes no sense, it's ridiculous and it should be placed somewhere deep within the captain's quarters not out on a balcony that looks out over most of your station hangar.

I see no logical point for having it where it is, it looks out of place, hard to gain access to down a flight of stairs and is far too out in the open.

It's completely immersion breaking to think that someone regarded as a demi-god would decant in full view of an entire hangar, and the crew of the ship he or she just left.

Agreed.

Now I know it's not unusual for me to be flashing my naked butt covered in goo around, but suspended hundreds of feet in the air on a narrow catwalk? Bearing in mind my legs are still a bit wobbly after too much.. erm, for being in the capsule for a while.. the whole thing is a recipe for disaster!

My god, it's placed there in every CQ... silly, silly, silly. Aren't we supposed t be, like, nude inside the pod? They should put some screens at least, in case they chose to completely ignore the decanting room as seen in the video...

This has already been addressed in previous threads.

This is pretty close to what happened. There was some discussion of whether the pod should appear at all, and the creative leads involved ultimately voted to have the pod show up off of the balcony. Not everyone agreed, but that's the way the ball bounced. In the future, I hope the location of the pod will be in its own clone/med bay chamber, which is how it was originally conceived.

YES. I'm not about to step out of my pod all gooey and fracking NAKED in view of the filthy public!

Got to say i really do hope once the CQ opens the door, that we do get med chambers where people embark to the station

I would like a separate room for it as well.

Absolutely. I keep asking for it, and will keep asking for it.

I can understand the time-constraints that perhaps led to them being skipped at first, but the 'nanites' rubbish that was invoked as an explanation for the new decanting process is truly terrible.

I've linked this image elsewhere before, but will do it again here... you can glimpse in it, where the Minnie pod room should have been - but that door/arch just leads straight onto the gangway now...

This is what I'd want:

1. The return of the pod room concept, as soon as possible - I suggest from the obvious videos etc. that the model already exists and has textures, so please find time to incorporate it.

2. The intro movie (dare to be bold, etc) to be updated as soon as the new nebulas are ready. Pod cutscenes could be incorporated at that point, so that they aren't needed 'in-game'.

I doubt it's going to happen any time soon, but I'll keep asking....

It would be nice if the room from the video was added back in at some point. I remember reading about the capsule exit process in The Burning Life and then seeing the video and well, what we have now is not what I expected.

Also, interestingly, if you look at the Caldari CQ at least there isn't even enough headroom above the stairs to walk down to your pod (you know, if you could actually walk down to your pod).

well... actually we have strong rules against nudity in Amarr Stations.

So i suggest you either not dock there... or use (not sexy) underwear. Otherwise the guards will shoot at you (yes we have snipers who work 24h/7 to check if people show too much flesh(.

Agreed.

The CQ needs a capsule chamber and a bathroom.

Mass Effect 2 had some good ideas on how a CQ should look like. I do not say that the CQ should look exactly like that but CCP should take notes about a few of the things build into the Shepards room on the Normandy 2.

Maybe we should create a thread in the ideas and feature section to gather all things that could be improved.

For example there could be a lot more

Holoprojetor: One side of the CQ is displaying a choice selection of landscapes, views from space etc.
Sound: While on the balcony the sound is quite nice, I do not think that the inside of the CQ should sound like a busy hangar.

It makes no sense placed where is actually now.

Come on CCP, give a litlle love to CQ, you can do it a lot better.

There is a reasonable way to fit the pod location, our appearance on the balcony, the speed of the process, the lack of decanting, and the survival of your clothes all together.

When you get in your pod nanites quickly disassemble your clothes and store them in the pod. The pod is filled and you are “plugged in”. While this happens your pod flies from the balcony to your ship, and your ship undocks.

Upon docking the pod is drained and you are cleaned and dried by nanites. Your stored clothing is then reassembled on your body by the nanites. In seconds you are ready to step out of the pod, fully cleaned and clothed, and onto the balcony.

If you are podded a scan of your mind and a scan of the disassembled clothing is transmitted to your cloning station. You mind scan is loaded into your clone, and a duplicate of your clothing is reconstructed upon it.

This technology has its limitations. The clothing scan, like that of your mind, is destructive. Also like a single use BPC, only one replacement can be made from the scan. In addition the Joves who supplied this technology are unwilling or unable to extend it to any other part of the ship other than the pod.

Source: I made it all up based on what we see in the game and scraps of info supplied by the Devs.

If we accept the above, the best place for the pod would be about where the "undock" button is on the balcony. Upon docking the avatar would appear in front of the pod doors as though it had just stepped out.

There are some CQ I could agree on.
