What happens to a Carrier's assigned fighters when the carrier enters warp?

I'll try to be brief:

  1. Do assigned fighters continue to fight with the ships to which they have been assigned after the source carrier enters warp?
  2. If a carrier never stays in a safespot for more than 11 seconds, can the carrier be successfully scanned down and interdicted in that period of time?
  3. Is fast warping (<11s time to warp) currently being used as a tactic by carriers for the purpose of keeping them safe while the carrier's fighters are assigned?

Thanks for satisfying my curiosity.

This one. Most carriers sit just outside a pos field and assign fighters. If either pilot disconnects the fighters will automaticaly return to the carrier. Just be sure to not be in the field when they do return or you will lose them.

    Yes.

If they are looking for you and have probes out... yes. Also, carriers take more than 11 seconds to align. Blink

Don't know much about this one. MWDs don't really provide much of a speed boost for carriers, but with interial stabs I suppose it's possible. Personally I wouldn't risk it. Easier and safer to poke your nose out of a POS or hug a station.

To explain more, carriers need more than 11 seconds to align and warp. And if you are trying to reduce that by fitting in-stabs, you are gimping your fit terribly since you are loosing your tank.

Two ways would be sit in a pos, just poke your nose out and assign fighters. Or sit in a station and assign fighters.

If you are in a pos, you can always head back in and recall then fighters. Sometimes they don't get it but you just move towards them a bit and they will respond properly.

If you are on a station, note that the station aggro timer will not start until your fighters return to you. So even if they are not shooting anyone at the moment, you timer won't start until they get into your drone bay. after that you have to wait the 30secs or so to dock up.

Cloaking is not an option as it'll disconnect the fighters.

Bouncing safespots is very difficult as once the hostile know the approx location of those spots they can just leave probes there and get you in a singe hit. And there is no way you can align and warp within that time.

Why use a carrier just for the fighters? They are really not that much DPS even against larger targets.

To align yes, but if the carrier were moving from safe to safe in a straight line, the time to warp is just the time to get up to speed. Not sure if that can be done in 11s, but it would be a lot less than dropping out of warp and trying to align while you have some velocity already.

Pyfa says a Thanatos with perfect skills will take just under 28 seconds to align. I could easily scan that down even if I had no clue where in the system you were. And if I *just* missed you on the first pass, you're guaranteed to be caught on your next safespot.

Note: My scanning skills are far from perfect. There are others who would definitely catch you the first time you landed.
