If your corp is too busy to show you around the game and to teach you things, then you need to find a different corporation. Look for a "newbie-friendly" corporation.

The nice part about eve is if you ar patient enough you can learn to play all aspects of the game. The efficiency is the issue most of the time. Also just because you are part of a corp does not limit who you can fly with or who you can be friends with. Just a heads up currently hulkaggedon is going on (a player run event where people kill and bank mining ships). Good luck getting the plex. If you need any question or help with anything feel free to private convo or mail me I like helping inexperienced players.

Always willing to help all you have to do is ask, though if you're in the other fleet I may not help the way you want. Just a heads up. Pub Channel: Lost Souls Trading Post

Noticed that this was sort of left unanswered, so figured I would answer it for you.

There is absolutely nothing preventing you from doing everything in EVE with the same character. I have traded, explored, mined (albeit very briefly) ratted/missioned, done PI (Planetary stuff), and pvp'd all on my one character. The only difference with your race and bloodline is the slightly different starting skills. This doesn't really matter that much anyway, but if you are setting up a character to do only 1 specific task, you can see where it might help to start with some mining skills for a miner.

On another note, if you have any questions or just want to chat, feel free to hit me up ingame either via pm or mail.

Mining is good thing to start but remember that without high end equipment and skills it really is a waste of time (ISK wise) once you start having enough skills for making money with other stuff.
Anyway most important thing to keep an eye on as a newbie is the security status of the system you're entering, especially when getting a route from the autopilot (stay away from the red !).
I could go on and on about politics and life involving living in low and null but for now stay in high sec where it's relatively safe.

A for getting a little seed money; do the tutorials they net you some free skills and extra ships (my alt has 2 destroyers, 4 frigates and 2 industrials from tutorials), once you have done all the tutorials and have some more combat skills head to Sister Alitura in Arnon for newbie epic arch which is a long mission chain that nets you a several millions of ISK once complited.

Second:

Unlike other MMO's, new blood is valuable in Eve. player activity is the best asset a corp can have, newb or otherwise.

If they can't be bothered to help you out, they are millking you and you can easily do better.

EDIT: NVM, posted before reading rest of thread. Disregard. but other new players take note.

Klaas you may not be able to fly it yet but if you and your buddies plan on minning during the next month you need to be careful as ****.

Its called Hulkaggedon. People are out in roving suicide gangs competing for Minning Barge and Exhumer kills.

Your tears over a retriever loss would be sweet sweet nectar to them.

Keep and eye on Dscan and an eye on local. Be aligned to warp off, and if some one any one gets to close to you even if they look innocent they could easily be a neutral scout attempting to get a warp in for a larger gang.

Not saying Hulkaggedon is good or bad, im just saying if your not careful they will take your ****.

Now that you know your going to mine, train toward it aggressively.

You should know that those skills dont easily cross apply to other avenues in game like killing rats in PVE or combat.
You might be able to branch into production because of the course you have set yourself on but also try to get into trading as well. Being able to manipulate your buy sell orders can be a relief from bordem as your poking rocks.
Plus it means you'll be making money as you make money.

Dont know how to trade dont worry.

read the forums, especially the noobie section
read guides on the internet
find a corp that actively states they have a noob program and they are willing to mentor to noobs.
