Sounds like I'm able to see some of the actual structure within the militia that we were all hoping for over the last few years.

Liking it so far? What's good/bad?

On the Gallente side it is pretty good. The biggest benefit over what we had is really the ability to use API driven forums, alliance chat to cut down on the chatter in intel channels, alliance eve mail to blast out messages, or in other words improved communications. Alliance contracts really help with getting more people access to ships at cost and alliance standing is helping to unify the blue/red lists as well.

On the downside, the corps in the alliances are very independent and really have their own ideas on what the alliance should be. As a result, we got three alliances when those ideas were pretty divergent. Even within the alliances, there is a lot of independence and some minor drama llamas when a Corp does something that another doesn't want to be associated with.

Also, check out the gamer chick fairy blog entry. That sums things up on our side too.

All in all, it has been good and we are better off than before. We went from 20 to 30 corps who fought tactical battles well together but otherwise did not talk to each other to 3 alliances who fight tactical battles well with each other but otherwise do not talk to each other.

On the Minmatar front, we all just got in touch with our Fairy, effeminate side.

Its a mixed bag. Honestly for what we have gained we have had so sacrifice an equal amount.
As the other have posted before me we have gained useful tools at the cost of freedom, don't get me wrong its not unfair or bad.
I'm just grumpy that every "new" thing we get in faction war is a null-sec mechanic hand me down or some thing to experimental for them to use yet....................and the fist full of stuff we have all to our self is glitch, broken and going to be swapped out in inferno for most likely, well hand me downs and experiments.

So finally the Minmatar & Amarr have stereotypes to call one another.. Fairies & Wizard Hats?

In regard to Gavin's post..

Caldari still needs some fairy dust sprinkled it's way or some wizard hats & lighting bolts, as it seems every corp wants to have it's own alliance, much like 1 in 5 of our Cal Militia pilots wants his own corp.

It's somewhat getting better, but so far I haven't seen a lot of benefit out of any of the Alliances at this point for our corp. The Plex guys are focused on Plexing, so they seem to have a focused goal. They kinda do their thing and seem to work together doing it, but out side that I'm really not clear on what the focus is of any of the other alliances that have popped up in Caldari Militia.

Our corp has stayed away from any of them because we too want our own alliance.. (j/k P ) Na but really our corp is still finding it's way and we aren't focused on plexing but try to help out sometimes and not even focused on just killing Gallente TBH.. When we take a gang out half the time we end up in null sec or fighting pirates rather than looking for our war targets.

I'd say right now our corp is focused more on getting our own guys PVP experience out side of typical Militia blobs and building up competent corp gangs. It's often hard enough to get guys in your own corp to work in the same direction much less try to get corps to work together in that same direction.

Yeah - lots more cross-corp cooperation within the alliance. Seems like more cross-alliance cooperation too. I am glad for the change.

The bad news is that our "Voltron fleets" that insta form at the first site of a squid are getting a bit bigger. Dont worry though - we can still fail with great heaping spoonfuls of idiocy (like we did last night).

The Caldari have a number of good groups that fight individually, but dont seem to fight together. If Cerberus, Squids, 4 Horse and Dark Circle and the Basterds would all get together they would easily have fleets the size of ours. No idea why they dont...

Everyone wants their own comms server and intel channels too, hard to rally everyone unless you have 30 intel channels open and 3 comms servers running at once P

In response to Caldari militia corps not working together.... One of the stumbling blocks of that is the mumble server. People have't heard of it, didn't know how to use it. Sure it takes 15minutes to installl and get online for an average user but lets face it... drop mumble and go with one type of comms server, Temspeak!

Eve voice is utter ****. It has a habit of dropping when fleets get large or things get hot and heavy. Also deen, let him do his own intel gathering, I seriously doubt he's looking for a new corp to join.

I've pretty much told everyone why we don't use Mumble.. It's a ok voice program but for what ever reason it doesn't like my computer. No matter what settings I try half the people in a gang can hear me and the other half can't. It did same thing when I was running XP as my OS and still does it with Win7.

Meaning it's hardware related or something to do with the codex that Mumble uses. I will say I've seen others with the same issue but they usually aren't trying to run gangs, so it's not as big of a deal for them. This is why we stick to our corp TS3 most of the time.

No clue why anyone else is using different coms though. As far as our guys we always make sure they have Mumble installed and ability to get on the joint coms but only a few have been joining any of those gangs.

Far as our corp and intel channels we use the basic 2 that have always been used. We do have a joint channel with another corp that is new to Cal Militia but that's only because they are the only corp I've seen so far that is interested in working on something other than kitchen sink gangs. However Time Zone differences have kinda kept us from getting anywhere with joint gangs & that corp.

Personally as a FC or even as someone just flying in a gang I like Small Gang PVP. I also like organized gangs where each ship is there to serve a purpose and not just bring what ever you want to fly like 90% of Militia gangs seem to be. As a corp we have built a few basic Corp fits that we ask our guys to train for, so we can use them in gangs and that's what we fly when we take out gangs.

If I'm running a gang, I want to know that a guy can ship into this ship or that ship and that he has at least basic skill levels to fly it properly. I don't want to go out with the intention of running a nanno gang for instance and have a few special snowflakes think it's good to bring a Blaster Ferox, Brutix or a HAM Drake.

Any other half way decent PVP alliance or PVP group in the game understands the purpose of creating basic fleet concepts that they fly. Meanwhile FW guys for most part just want to undock what ever they want to undock and throw blob at the problem, instead of developing decent tactics or gang concepts.

I mean seriously if our corp can do and we recruit guys as new as 2 weeks into the game at times, then why can't the rest of the rest do it? Wouldn't you like to be able to take down a Bunker with a bunch of tier 3 BC's with proper support for example vs having to try to get guys to show up in bombers and fleets that have to run away if a decent gang shows up to fight?

That is true, I am not really looking for a new corp to join, which is why I inquired about Alliances. I am in a small corp with a few people I have flown with for awhile and we just joined the Gallente Militia this week. The last time I was involved with FW (which was with the very first corp I joined when I was a newb back in 2008ish) you couldn't have Alliances in FW and I haven't really kept that up to date on FW systems.

In my limited experience, Eve Voice is decent if you have a couple of people in a small gang, but with larger groups best to have a separate voice server.
