Quick question about storage in a PI setup

I'm working on a simple production planet for PI, no extraction, just straight import and export.

I have a launchpad and 1 extra storage facility.

I have everything being routed to the launchpad, and recently added the extra storage connected to the command center.

Once the launchpad gets full, will stuff automatically be routed to the storage unit? Or am I going to have to reorganize the layout so that the storage unit is connected directly to the launchpad?

Just trying to make sure I don't lose any products if the launchpads fills up.

Nothing moves around "automatically". You need to manually transfer the materials using an expedited transfer, or have the materials route directly into the storage facility instead of your launchpad. Either when when either fills up you have to empty them yourself.

I thought I had read somewhere that having a storage facility would allow items to go their instead of to their routed location if the routed location is full.

If I put the storage facility between the launchpad and everything else, will that work for that purpose?

It won't work.

But if you like you can split the output to 2 different buildings (LP and storage). Of course you can't split a P4 item ^_^
