Why are there so many wormholes?

I'm looking at my notebook I keep on my desk here and out of 3 different systems I probed down 9 sigs.

7 of those are wormholes.

There could be a very legitimate reason for all these wormholes that I'm unaware of, as a new player, but I'm not familiar with it if there is.

Personal bad luck....or what?

Completely random - could scan down 30 sigs and find one WH or like the other day I was scanning a C3 and it had 3x k162 from C5s, 4x T405 to C4s a k162 from a C2 and its static lowsec U210 and only 1 ladar.

There are many wormholes because there are many wormhole systems, and wormholes with a static high looooove gathering in one spot sometimes.

It's pretty random, I tell yew wut.

Like every other signature that has to be scanned, random wormhole links spawn & dont get scanned for a while, thus they build up.

Commonly in a system with 30+ sigs you will see alot more wormholes than usual.

C2 wormholes are also the most connected to out of any other class of system & often make for a good chain :)

*wonders if the OP is confusing wormhole systems with plex sites*

I once Pokemon'd it in our C4. We connected to every type of system except K-space in our C4 via transients.

I also remember the olden days of the expired timer glitch, where you could spawn multiple statics by spamming jump on a timed-out wormhole. We were in a C3 with nullsec at the time, and spawned 50 nullsecs. It got crazy for about 24h there.

I also heard a tale that LOST spawned their C5 into every other C5 in the game simultaneously with that bug, and somehow mnaged to lose their carriers in the chaos that followed.

Good times.

Wormhole signatures are like mini, temporary stargates to other permanent systems in the universe. They're not sites that spawn and despawn, such as a Magnetometric or a Sansha's Forward Whatever.

Wormholes are not often immediately found and closed by hungry explorers looking for easy money.

If virtually all of the sites you find are wormholes, you are almost certainly exploring in busy hisec.
