It is obviously going to be collectors item for me, no matter what the options.

Also, I guess that makes it 9 years in rookie corp.Ugh

For the Implants/ships/skill-books. CCP better buy from the market the equivalent of what they give out free. Use the confiscated ISK fund.

That way the sellers benefit instead of being shafted.

Congrats on 10 years. Eve is still the best MMO by far. Nothing can come close. I'd even say it's the best game out there period. It certainly has its grips on me.

I have to say though, as much as free stuff is nice, I figured the 10th anniversary being such a big deal would be marked with something a little less mundane and with something truly special edition that could be flown rather than held in a hangar. Even the yearly Christmas gifts are more exclusive than this. But it's all good. I'll take what I can get.

So good work CCP. Let's hope for another 10 years or more. Honestly, I couldn't imagine where this little universe could go with another 10 years under its belt.

People were constantly telling me I was crazy. For a long time I didn't believe them, but after a while, I started to think they might be right.

But it turns out that they were all wrong. One of the voices in my head is a psychiatrist and he says I'm perfectly sane.

Don't worry people. I am sure that these are only placeholder gifts.

Nothing is final until it hits TQ.

I thought of another gift that would be even more epic:

Some good ideas that came out of Mumble straight-off from myself and fellow corpies for the 10th Anniversary of EVE.

A hotkey mapped to do various things depending on your API key to verify your alliance etc.

#1 - If you're in nullsec, it blows up one carebear per hour.

#2 - If you're in highsec, it blows up one random nullsec dweller a month

#3 - If you're in TEST, you blow up everyone in local once per week. This is regardless of whether or not they are docked/undocked. If they're docked, the next time they undock, they blow up.

#4 - If you're in Pure Madness, you blow yourself up once every day.

CCP this gift sucks balls - seriously, a set of cruisers? Most and I mean most players can earn what these gifts are worth by killing a few rats in null or low sec. This is a gift for noobs so call it what it is " A Noob gift basket". Just to prove I am not whiny, here is a suggestion: Why can't CCP get an imagination and do something a little harder and provide gifts to characters based on skill points. Such a distinguishment could be useful for other purposes.

I like the way you say that without a trace of irony.

PS What presents did you give your friends on your birthday?

My friends do not pay a monthly fee for my friendship lol

But realy guys, adding some +1 remap, or some kind of fun stuff like snowballs etc, would just add you more respect Blink

Happy Birthday.

Erm, you're giving away free ships, ones that normally are built by players using the player driven market? You haven't learned anything at all, have you.

Excellence is not a skill, it's an attitude.

I suppose that for someone who's only a year or so old, those would be nice packages. Good places for people to go in particular directions.

I just crossed my third year here. Any of the skills offered are either ones I have (and in many cases, ones I've trained to V), or ones I really don't need.

If you boosted the implant set from Limited to Basic, I guess I'd go for that. But mostly... meh.

This is my signature. There are many others like it, but this one is mine.

Someday, this signature may save my life.

Dear CCP, please understand this:

Quite a few of your clients are again upset and disappointed. And the worst thing is that they are upset and disappointed over Free Stuff™. Over the gifts that should bring joy or excitement. And you know why, don't you?

It's not because we are whiners or ungrateful sons of matari hookers or just cynical bastards (although a lot of us are, and some even eat spacebabies for spacebreakfast). It's because in real life as well as in Eve, which is part of that life for us, we have come to expect the gifts to be something special, to have some meaning, or to be somewhat unique. We don't complain about low monetary value of those gifts. We just want those gifts to be something to remember.

I for one will happily get my copy of the Pax Amarria (misprint edition) as i collect useless stuff. Not everybody else does.
Apart from this option, all others are.. uninspiring, and either bound to be lost on the very first cheap cruisers fleet op or worse yet melted and sold for scrap.

As somebody who was trying to defend you has said here: it's the thought that matters. I can't agree more. Indeed it's the thought that matters, and, except for the Pax Ammaria, the entire selection of gifts is devoid of any.

What's even worse, those cruiser packs options are very ill-thought out. There are people, in this free and player-driven economic system that you and us players so value, whose business is to produce the cheap T1 cruisers for the rookies. There are maybe not a huge lot of them, but they are out there. And you are ruining their business.
Not cool, not cool.

It's not too late to say "we were trolling you, here are the real gifts!" P

PS:
No, I'm not in the T1 cruiser production business.
Yes, I will enjoy my Pax Ammaria, together with Pax Amarria and the Fraudulent Pax Amarria that I already own.

Yes, we still love you, CCP.

Happy birthday!

This. A gift of cruisers is a lot more appealing if cruisers are useful for more than ship spinning.

As a member of Red Fed I assure you we will be doing much more then spinning them Twisted

Dear CCP,

♪♫♪♫♫♪♫♪♪
Happy Birthday to EVE. Happy Birthday to EVE. Happy Birthday, dear EVVVVVEEEEE. Happy Birthday to YOU!
And many more....
♪♫♪♫♫♪♫♪♪

Thank you so much for thinking us, the players, during this time of celebration.

I have already decided upon my gift pack and I eagerly await its arrival.

I would, however, like to make a suggestion. Since I know that the most valuable commodity in EVE is time, how interesting would it be to give out a gift that was commensurate with the amount of TIME that each account has been active within EVE Online? I clearly remember the refunding of skill points (Learning and Social skills) and how happy that made me to be able to quickly readjust my skills with these "newfound" points. What if you allowed each account to refund Skill Points in ONE skill per YEAR, or portion thereof, of active account status as an alternative gift? That would allow the new guys the option of choosing the nice "Cruiser Packs" and the bitter old vets the opportunity to recover from the damage of a failed skill training plan. We have ALL made training mistakes, right?

Close your eyes and think back to a time when the bitterest, oldest vets were the happiest players in EVE....

Right, never happened. But it could.

Perhaps it is too late to do this for the 9th Anniversary Party, but it is worth thinking about for the big ONE-OH.

Thank you and once again, HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
