It seems like all the Devs have either turned the brightness settings on their monitors up way to high, or they have really sensitive eyes and were blinded by the previous textures b/c every ship they have previously re-done for V3, and these new Amarr models, are WAY darker shades than the previous versions.

This does not bode well for those of us living in systems that have very little ambient light, as the new ship models just look black (or a dark shade of grey) most of the time. Yes they look nice graphically and artistically, but only when very well lit.

I just want to know, why are all the new models soo much darker than they need to be? (also hope you fix that very noticeable frame rate drop with the new textures)

Something like this?

With shader:

Disabled shader (or low, don't remember):

I'm gonna try on a different graphics card because there's no way all have it that way and didn't complain.

I solved my issue. I had both Intel and discreet Nvidia graphics on a laptop, so it works along the lines of nvidia sending the rendered image first to the intel chipset, before reaching the monitor.

The birghtness contrast and gamma settings were in the Intel graphics control panel, not in the Nvidia. The default settings were just trying to boast the LED backlight technology and reduced the brightness and gamma dramatically.

I was also refering to the new press released video, and how light the old model looks compared to the new V3 model...that has nothing to do with my in-game shader settings..but demonstrates the difference between the two, and it is like this on every ship they have redone. Even the thumbnail icon is much darker now.

But ingame the new models are much darker than they were before, using the same settings. I shouldn't have to change my settings to be able to see something other than a dark blob on my screen when before it was just fine. Or am i wrong?

Oh and my shader settings are off, or low, b/c i had to turn the graphic settings down to minimum to prevent my PC from melting after Incarna, and every update since.

i kinda agree with this.

in my opinion, the textures need to not reflect so much of the light. The new v3 models are like all shiny shiny shiny. It's like they have been diped in polish
